Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

Well if its a metal hood then you definitly shouldn't keep the water in there. I'd advise against allowing it either way.

But you really should locate the cause. Why is it leaking? Can you return it someone to repair it? Hoods shouldn't act as water collection containers!

Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

If you leave the water in there, the hood will RUST. You need to find that leak and fix it FAST. I'd put a stock hood back on in the meantime if you have it.

Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

That's beside the point. My Honda is fiberglass and it's still rusting because the paint got chipped off.

I'm not familiar with Duraflex, but fiberglass will still rust.

Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

Well its good that it won't rust, but its still likely bad to keep the water in there. You don't know exactly when or why it will pour out, and I'd rather not have a bunch of water hanging out over my engine.

The big question is "why?" I'd say drain the hood, then repair wherever it is that's allowing water in. If you bought it new from somewhere, have them fix or replace it. Hoods shouldn't retain water.

Definitely message them. I wouldn't tolerate this from a new product. Its one thing to have to repair an old thing, but having to troubleshoot and repair something that's brand new just sucks.

Wait... they sold you something that's not right, then offer you no way to remedy that? Or did you wait a long time to put it on?

Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

I'd still call them and talk to them. For the money you likely spent on the hood, it seems pretty shoddy to have that sort of problem with it being brand new.

On the other side, if you think you've found the leak and can't get them to help you out, dry it out and seal it up. I'm not sure of the exact location, but hopefully you can do it without it being extremly visible.

Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

yea well i got one reply this is what they said

" The hood is made from non-metallic materials so there should be no concern for rust or decay of any kind if that is what you were wondering. "

Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

i asked a second question and heres the second response

" The hood is capable of withstanding high heat temperatures and water would not get hot enough to boil and certainly would not crack the hood. I have never heard of this happening and I think you have nothing to worry about regarding that issue.
"

Re: HOOD LEAKAGE!!!

Wow crappy response. While the response is technically correct, its still not right that something you paid reasonable money for is filling with water. I'd still say seal it up. You don't really know when this might become an issue.

I'd either press them more, or find the problem and fix it.

Ummm....No. Fiberglass will NOT rust, nor will Duraflex.

Whatever is rusting on your Honda, is not fiberglass.

To HarmonyCamaro......I'd drill small holes to drain it, but find out WHY it is getting wet inside & fix it. The seller is trying to put you off. Playing their stall tactics The hood is obviously not sealed correctly. It shouldn't get water collecting inside. My 1987 hod doesn't hold water, despite the stock vents in it, that are not open to the inside. It has drain holes built in, to let water that got in, out.
