door lock set

Does anyone here know of a vendor that sells a lock set for our f-bodies that includes doors, hatch, and t-tops?

Re: door lock set

Did you just lose the key or just want a new set of locks?
If just a lost key you could pull out just ONE door lock and take it
to a locksmith and have a keys made for less than $15 bucks.

Re: door lock set

Actually, previous owner lost the t-top keys, broke out the hatch lock cylinder, lost the key for the locking gas lid, AND lost the door key. I really don't want to have 3+ keys for one car so I'd like to just replace them all with a matching set.

Did the T-Tops/Doors & Hatch match from the factory?

Re: door lock set

The t-tops, doors and hatch all used the same key from the factory. I've never had a locking gas lid, just a locking gas cap, but I would guess the lid uses the same key as the factory. The locking cap does not from my experience, but those all may be aftermarket.

Re: door lock set

the fuel door is most likely aftermarket, but its really not that important. Locking the doors, however, is a little more important. Also, does anyone know a good way to open the rear hatch when there is no lock cylinder?

Re: door lock set

Doors, tops and hatch use the same key. My passenger door was a replacement and had a different key from the rest, plus I had lost my only key to the other locks.

My local locksmith was able to create a key from the door lock itself to fit all locks and sold me a new lock for the odd door lock and keyed it to all the other locks, so now they all work correctly from one key.

Your local locksmith is the answer.

If your car has the little light in the rear cargo panel, than you can pull the lens off and stick a flat headed screwdriver in the latch, and turn it, and it will open. You'll notice where to put the screwdriver when you look in there. If you dont have that little light, than you can pull up on the rear plastic panel, and feel for the cable and pull, of course this method is a last resort, as you risk breaking something.

Re: door lock set

i got a replacement set from GM for the driver passenger and trunk. not sure the price yet as i was so frustrated trying to find em i just called and asked em to get me a set. they said no problem we will call you witht he price and should be here next week. last time i had that done to my wife's grand am it was around 90$ for 3 cylinders. hard to find working used ones in good shape. each cylinder should run around 30$ with key new. may be +- a few bucks.

maybe you have better luck finding used working ones than i ever have.
