I thought it was the wiper motor giving mr trouble at first but I bought a new on and it's doing the same thing. My blades only move up and down maybe 2 inches. The motor is spinning all the way around. Is there an additional pivot arm that is missing? Her is a picture of the connection. Thanks for your help.
Re: Am I missing something on my wipermotor assembly?
lol, dude look closer, yer nut is loose, on that wiper motor there is a SQUARE cut into the shaft, it fits on with the pivot facing down, make sure it locks into the square at tighten it down really good, then try it.
Re: Am I missing something on my wipermotor assembly?
Yes, I know the nut is lose. That is not the problem. The rectangle hole fits onto the rectangle bolt that comes out of the motor. Is that rectangle bolt supposed to spin as it rotates? the motor moves the bolt around but the pivot arm stays strait cause the blades to only move up and down only a few inches. I've tried two different motors but they both do the same thing.
Re: Am I missing something on my wipermotor assembly?
take the arm off and look at the hole, see if its rounded out, take a pic if you can, also, make sure that the arm is mounted in the correct position, it WILL spin loose if it is not.
Re: Am I missing something on my wipermotor assembly?
The motor should spin the bolt.Which in turn should rotate the pivot arm.The arm should complete a 360, pause(wiper delay), then repeat.During the first part of the 360 is when the wiper arms should travel upward. As the pivot arm completes the 2nd half of this 360 is when the wiper arms swing back down. The rod should rotate with the pivot arm as well.If its not something is loose!Either the pivot arm is not set on the sqaure drive of the bolt or the two bolts on the bar/pivot arm are loose. Those two bolts are used to adjust the amount of travel the wiper arm performs.
There is a 2nd bar connected the pass wiper arm.If both wipers are moving together. They are probably connected, if not check the other bar.
The bar connected to the wiper motor.Should travel to the pass side wiper.Passenger wiper has a dual arm.Which has the 2nd shorther bar connected to it(top part).Other end of said bar connects to the center wiper.
What caused your wipers to do this in the first place?Did you by any chance remove the plastic cover on the wiper motor?
Re: Am I missing something on my wipermotor assembly?
I just bought it last Sat. and thats how the wipers were. So I bought a new motor but it was doing the same thing. This pivot arm stays perpendicular, it dosn't move up or down. Do I need to adjust the arm, the 2 bolts there in the pic.
