Rear hatch trim seperating from glass

Forgive me if this has been covered. I found tons of threads about refinishing the trim, but not where it was coming off the glass. It's two pieces, that meet in the middle, at the top center of the hatch glass. The left side looks like it has come off some, but the right definitely has. There appears to be some sort of connecter between the two that's also come off and appears to be breaking. I figure you just use the proper adhesive (any ideas?) and glue it back down. The big thing is that when you push it back down, there's still a gap between the two where the spacer will be showing. Is that correct or should they meet up? Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance!
