Re: Qs about the daytona hood and funtional louvers
thats what I figured but it doesn't really help me with my problem, which is the need for a cowl hood with louvers comaptible with the mechanism on my hood
Re: Qs about the daytona hood and funtional louvers
I've searched around to see if I can find an answer for you,but all I can say is maybe you can make your own? Maybe cuz out the section in the middle you want raised, and cut some pieces of metal to fill in the gaps on the sides, and maybe you will have what your looking for?
Re: Qs about the daytona hood and funtional louvers
yeah my only option I see is building my own hood but I'm not really a body guy and this is my HOOD the most eye drawing part on a car. and I shudder at the idea of cutting into my very rare hood and screwing it up.
plus, not that I have the money for someone else to do it, but there isn't even anyone in town that messes with fiberglass that I can find

Not to burst your bubble, but the hood isn't that rare. Sure there aren't as many out there as the Iroc hoods, but there are quite a few. I think I have atleast 4 fiberglass 82-83 hoods, 3 of them functional.
I'd hit up some junkyards looking for an SMC hood, even if it's not the functional type. Cut out the center part and mold that into an aftermarket fibergalss hood. The use your "flapper" parts to finish it off.

I would be willing to sell one, but I think the shipping would be a deal breaker. I believe I have a set of flaps along with their hardware that would be easier to ship.
Re: Qs about the daytona hood and funtional louvers
i Would love to buy one! i have looked all over and havent been able to find a functional daytona hood within 200 miles of where i live. If you still have the hoods would you be willing to sell one? i live at 46783 and i would pay shipping which is about $100 i think from either coast so that should be the max. Please get back with me! thanks!
