factory fiberglass hood underside removal

has anyone ever removed the underside frame work on a factory fiberglass hood and made it into a pin on? mines coming apart in the back coners and the frame is cracked in a few places. and id like to get some more weight off the front end

I removed most of the understructure on my steel GTA hood with a cutoff wheel

Its not as heavy as youd think. I needed the space so I had no choice

I'm guessing it will loose it's shape if you separate the two halves. IIRC, they were discontinued because they tended to separate on their own so hood pins might be a good idea for an intact hood anyways.
