Re: Where are the birds?

Hood 'birds are in the minority, because after 86 or 86, Pontiac didn't put them on anymore.

Any pics of your 'bird, post-paint yet?

You going original color? Color change? Custom/2-tone? Putting the 'bird back on?

Re: Where are the birds?

the bodyman and i agreed that it will look best in that silver on top....one color all over and maybe add a lil somthing to the paint to make it standout from the original. but the idea is to make it as close to original as possible so it doesn't look odd when you open the doors or hood. and im thinkin im not going to want the bird back on there.

1987 was the last year they put the bird on the hood. My 87 GTA had to on the hood stock.

Also this book says it was 1987. http://www.amazon.com/Firebird-Trans...4141790&sr=1-2

Re: Where are the birds?

I tossed one on mine to break up the solid white... It's alot of white hood. If I was sportin' the T/A hood like Brycek, I probably wouldn't have chosen to put it on. No, it's not stock. *surprise*

Re: Where are the birds?

It's more of a seventies thing. it went out of style with second gens, really. i'd say thats why you rarely see it and ppl don't put them back on nowadays.

Re: Where are the birds?

I think they went out of style because they changed from a nice fearce bird to a weird screaming chicken looking thing... I hate the 3rd gen hood bird, the 2nd gen is what its about.

Your birds are back in the 70's and early 80's. I am not a fan of them.

Re: Where are the birds?

The bird on the hood of my 87 GTA was the 3rd gen bird, not the 70s style.

Re: Where are the birds?

I have a custom bird on my 84 TA. I went with the different colors becaues of the white car. All the exterior birds are like this, the inside are solid gold or gold outline.
