84 z28 fenderwell trim,factory,or aftermarket??

I just bought an 84 z and noticed the car has black trim
running the edge of the fenderwells.
I need to know if this was something extra at the factory,or an aftermarket add-on?
Reason i need to know is the front drivers fender piece is missing and i can see where the adhesive on the backing left a little on the fender.
It kind of reminds me of double sided foam tape? You can't see it very well, but it is on the passenger fender below around the edge to keep from getting door dings i guess.

It isn't on the drivers side front fender, and i would like to just replace it.
It is really hard to see in these pictures.
I will try get a better close-up tomorrow of the trim.
I am removing the z stripes at the bottom of the car a little at a time.

thanks for any and all the info i can get.
i am very pleased with all the knowledge floating around here.
i have 3 camaros now and am looking for one now just for
use as a parts car.

thanks again,
jd from n.c.

Re: 84 z28 fenderwell trim,factory,or aftermarket??

if its like an undercoating or a hardened glue like substance its normal, or if its a black plastic piece that uses plastic one use screws to hold it in it is also normal. if its anything that is supposed to go onto the fender itself and not on the interior near the tire its not stock as far as i know

No,it's actually a piece of trim on the edge of the fender.
It runs from the front bottom corner to the back bottom corner of the fender well.
Sorry I didn't make it plain enough I guess.
i was just wondering if that came from the factory,or was an add-on?

Thanks,
jd

The wheelwell lip moulding as well as the body side bang strip mouldings
all look like aftermarket.

My 84 has almost every factory option and has no wheel opening mouldings
and the side bang strip is smaller and held on by adhesive.

Re: 84 z28 fenderwell trim,factory,or aftermarket??

thanks,i was hoping it was factory so it may be easier to find.
but if it isn't then i'll just take it all off.
how about that stripe and the (heartbeat usa)?
is that a factory striping?
oh,and all the mouliding is on with adhesive strip just like factory.
the small around fender well looks like it was put on at factory.
they done a great job, though it isn't my favorite look.

The heartbeat decal and pinstripe are aftermarket.

Will have to go look at my lower body stripes and tell you the
color order to be sure cuz I can't tell from your pic.

i may be wrong, but think the stripe at bottom is correct.
the reason i say this is because i have been removing and it looks like factory colors underneath.
thanks go to all who have helped,
