T-tops problems????

I have 1986 camaro with t-tops. I first bought some t-top seals to replace my leaking ones when i noticed they were about 2 inches to long across. So i returned the seals. I also bought a new headliner to replace my old crappy one and found out it didn't fit! I was comparing with my friend's 1988 camaro with t-tops and i noticed that his t-top bar is bolted in and my t-top unit is rivited in. Did they use different styles some years? So what t-top headliner and t-top seals do i buy?? Thanx Kevin

Re: T-tops problems????

IIRC, there was an aftermarket T-Top conversion that has different dimensions. I think the area along the front is set back farther from the window on the aftermarket conversion.

Re: T-tops problems????

...There are 2 sizes for t-tops.

Factory t-tops & aftermarket "dealer" t-tops.I forget the company name, but they did the aftermarket conversions.

Please search "t-top leaks".."leaky t-tops".. etc..
I BELIEVE the aftermarket t-tops are a few inches shorter in the front-to-rear measurement..??..

OR--you can ask your supplier how to determine which tops you have.
Some ppl like 1A Auto, some like Hawks (both are trusted sponsors for the TGO web site),,etc.
I wish you luck on your journey!Leaks suck...some ppl say "That's the way t-tops roll" some never have//had problems........

Re: T-tops problems????

There were factory T-Tops and also Cars & Concepts T-Tops. It sounds like you have the cars and concepts version.

Re: T-tops problems????

Cool, thanx for the info. I did not know that. Is this usually more valuable in cars or why did they originally install them?
