Door windows removal

I need to remove windows from doors so can paint & replace weather stripping along top of door. Have service manual and it states remove a pin and drill out rivets holding window. I understand the rivet part, but does anyone know what the manual is talking about when they reference a "pin"? I can't see anything (interior panel is off) that looks like a pin. If you've got any tips on getting these windows out I'd appreciate them.

There's really no reason to take the windows out of the doors to do what you need to do.

Re: Door windows removal

yea, you really do not need to remove the windows for that, it is not worth it

but if you want, you can unhook it from the window regulator (slide it off the rails) and then you should be able to slide the window and track at the bottom out of the top at the side.

Good deal - didn't really want to take them out anyway. If I can replace the weatherseal along top of door without window coming out I will! Thanks

I've taken the windows out of the doors before its easy should I make sort of guide for the rest of us so it makes it easier? I could it only takes like maybe 30 minutes. Any takers?

If you do I'm sure I'd be able to make use of it when I start my restoration project next year.

Yes, post. My weatherstripping has gotten so dry rotted it has left deep scratches in my glass so i'll need to replace both the glass and weather stripping at the same time.

Re: Door windows removal

I apologize for not posting the how to. Not to worry though it will be up by tomorrow Tuesday the lastest. I have to get back into my door to start the long process of refurbing the lock actuators as well as seat belts. I will be posting how tos on those as well. Please be patient I'm very sorry for not posting it sooner even though I said I would again I'm sorry. If there is something else that anyone would like to see let me know i might be able to help.
