My Accident

Hey, sorry no pics, this happend like 30 min ago. I was behind a truck, and we were waiting to turn right at an intersection. the light was red but there were no cars coming, so the truck in front of me starts to go, i also start to go, he stops short and i smash into the backend of him. No damage done to his truck, but heres what happened to my car.

Smashed the front bumper cover up, broke the headlight mount. blinker is smashed to bits, and the pass. fender is kinked and no good anymore. Im not very happy. However this happed at a good time, i was gonna redo my door pins, and get the car painted soon. This allows me to get the car painted this winter

Heres the thing, i have all the parts to fix it, but i have to know if there is any difference between a 85 and 92 front bumper cover and any differences between 85 and 92 pass. fender.

stupid trucks stopping for no reason.

thanks

Re: My Accident

well I know that firebird fenders fit all 82-92 firebirds, with the exception of the ground effects mounts (you could drill the holes yourself). I don't see why camaro fenders should be any different. However I do know that the ground effects were redesigned on 1991+ camaros but I think they should mount the same way.

Also, now you found out the hard way how important it is to keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you! Sorry for the lecture! lol

Re: My Accident

The fender is the same but the bumper cover is different I believe. But it will fit and the difference isn't very noticeable, looks better in my opinion.

Ok well the bumper cover is gonna have to work because its all i have right now. Also i noticed the differece on how the gfx mount but thats no problem, and im gonna bring the car to an auto body shop and see if they can save my fender. then im gonna have them check frame alignment and then its all new paint. If they cant save my fender i have at least one, possibly two more to replace it.

Thanks guys

Re: My Accident

Ok, let me know what you think.
I told the auto body what i suspect the damage to be. HE HASN'T SEEN ANY PICS YET. So this is just a rough ball park estimate, but he told me, that to replace all the damaged parts (which aren't that many i believe) and to repaint the car would be around $4500. And if i wanted all the door jambs and inner details like that painted, it would be $800 more. So that would be $5300

Now to me that seems high. I figure paint will cost $1000 at the most. and say $1000 in labor to paint it (really high) which leaves $3300 to replace some parts, that i have and don't have to buy?? seems kinda high, but let me know what you think.
