Does this mean I'll have to replace the whole glass?
Hey guys, the driver's side window on my 91 T/A has a little chip in it near the top. It's just over a half an inch long and the depth seems to be half way through the window.
It's not white like that, that's just the reflection from the flash.
It doesn't bother me a whole lot, but when I'll come around to fixing that, is that repairable or do I need to replace the whole glass? Thanks!
There are those windshield repair outfits that squirt the goop into your crack, divet, pit, etc. The only reason they may not touch it is because it is so close to the edge. But it wouldn't hurt to contact one of those type repairmen to find out if it is feasible.

i think they all crack there my iroc has that and my buddies did and so did this firebird that i parted did too. i dont get it and i was wondering too cause im about to get my windows tinted and was wondering what i needed to do
If you roll your window down you'll see the problem. There's a screw that holds the window wipe weatherstrip to the door. When the car was new there was a rubber bumper on the bottom of the window assembly that pressed against the bottom of the door shell and prevented the window from dropping under that screw. With age that bumper rots, fails, and the window gets rolled down too far, and chips the glass.
At this point the fix would be new window glass. Good luck finding one that's not already chipped. Look for crank window donor cars, people don't usually crank them down and keep pressure on the crank nearly as long as with power windows. Just make sure you replace that rubber stopper, or you'll have the same problem again.

Oh jeez. Well at least that probably explains it since I had no idea why a chip would randomly show up on that part of the window lol. I'll definitely take a look at that rubber bumper you mentioned since the driver's side needs a new window motor anyway. Thanks!
The rubber stopper looks about like these rubber feet... Same idea but they're mounted to the window or the regulator on the bottom side. If your car is fairly clean with good weather stripping, whats left of the old rubbers are usually still laying inside the door.

The weather stripping in my car is OK. The stripping on the outside thats mounted on the door is cracking though. My car will handle rain but NOT automatic car washes... learned that the hard way.

sorry bout the chip my durango's winshield is cracked right down the middle and have to get it replaced soon, but why in hell did you go thru a auto car wash???
