soffseal weatherstrip for doors: bad fit?

I ordered a weatherstrip kit from year one with soffseal door stripping a month or two ago...

The molded piece by the A-pillar seems to be attached to the strip at a rather weird angle, has anyone run into this before? It seems that I could cut/splice/glue it back into a reasonable shape, but I'm not sure I should have to do this....

attached is a pic showing the difference.. old OE on the left, soffseal on the right. If I force the soffseal straight like OE, the strip bunches up and doesn't touch the door for a few inches...

Re: soffseal weatherstrip for doors: bad fit?

I have read here and elsewhere that Soffseal is a hit or miss proposition.

Keep us updated, I need to replace all the weatherstripping on my car and haven't been sure what brand to buy. If the softseal ones don't fit right and the company won't stand behind it. I'll be sure to look elsewhere.
