Well this is my first post here and Im hoping everyone can give me a hand in rebuilding this beast!!

I was wondering if anyone knew if Intellitronix made/makes a digital gauge cluster for Firebirds? I know they make one for Camaros. I tried going to www.intellitronix.com but I get a 403 unauthorized page veiw error.

Welcome to the boards, and hello to a neighbor lol. I used your link and was able to get to the site. They don't sell a firebird/TA replacement and now they don't even list the camaro replacement. Only mustangs and vettes.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't know why it won't let me into the site.

I really wanted that type of dash. Can you think of something else I can do along the digital line.

Thanks

I think cyberdine also does a dash...that i hear is even better. Search the archives...a guy a while back had both. Also if you wanted you could just go with a few new digital guages...like on a sidepillar or something

Thanks but I need all new gauges after the engine swap (no ECM). I'm gonna check on Cyberdyne. As far as I know intellitronix was formed when a guy left cyberdyne and this caused some bad blood. Anyone know how true this is?

Nightcruzer...can u post pics of your car. I have an '83 TA as well. I was wondering how your car looks. I need a pic of the side of your car, because i just realized that my car might be missing the side gfx. Do you know if the newer gfx would fit on my car...you know, like from an 84-90. Also, does anybody know if i can get the white face overlays for my 1983 TA? Thanks

Hey Jims83TA,
I don't have my pics as of yet, but the following website has a picture of a TA with the same exact body and the same gfx's that I have. www.kizz.org/dreamcar/dreamcar01.jpg
There are no gfx on the doors. Only on the fenders and right in front of the rear wheels.
Gfx from later years will bolt on but, BUT you will need a new nose to make it all line up and you will have to drill holes to do it.
The only guys I know who make white face guage overlays are http://members.aol.com/rmacewen1/page1.html
but not for 1983 and I don't know why they won't fit.
Finally for comparison follow this link to see a great clear example of what 85-90 gfx should look like: www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/Forum2/HTML/000386.html

I believe that the Intellitronix dash IS the cyberdene unit. I believe that intelitronix bought out cyberdene.

Thanks nightcruzer. One prob. is that my 1983 TA has different ground effex than the pic you posted. My 1983 also has different tail lights than other '83's. My front ground effex are alot lower than the ones shown in the pic you had. But I dont have the gfx under my doors. Can I get gfx for under my doors? Can i get a set of gfx that will be for my entire car including under the doors, front, and back? Please let me know. Thanks

Somebody's not paying attention...

The two companies are completely different, and their respective digital dashes are totally different. I've had both, and I can say they're laid out differently, function differently, and are (one more time) different.

BTW, I just put up pics of the Intellitronix dash in the post: "dash gauges??" in this forum if you want to take a looksee.

And if you feel like downloading 1.4Mg, I have an MPEG of the Cyberdyne dash in action.

I'd be interrested in seeing the differences. When Summit switched from Cyberdene to Intelitronix, the two units appeared visually identical. Anybody have pictures of both styles?

I had an extensive review of both units posted on the Aftermarket Product Review forum a while back, but since no one was reading it, or said anything, I took it down off the server.

Jim85Iroc: Visually, behind the smoked plexiglas, they look close, but the Cyberdyne dash has smaller numbers, and a seperate odometer/trip odometer, whereas the Intellitronix dash has only the odometer, and you have to switch between total and trip mileage. Also, on the Intellitronix dash, the green bars that go around the speed and tach gauges go around about 260 degrees in a sort of squashed "U" shape, and the Cyberdyne has a more complete circle about 290 degrees and is shaped more like a perfect circle.

Find the MPEG <a href="http://pcola.gulf.net/~jza/night.mpg">here.</a>

Find my review <a href="http://pcola.gulf.net/~jza/dashreview2.html">here.</a> (Beware! It's a healthy read!)

Go to the "other" section, and look for the stock Firebird dash. Most expensive, and longest wait, but easiest swap, stock appearence, and breeze of an install.

Transam86....i think your digital dash looks great. That is the best looking digital dash i have ever seen, and actually the only one I like. I hate all digital dashes, besides the one you have. I have been looking for one like that for the longest time. How much was that? Did you install it yourself? Do they make the digital dashes for my 1983? Please get back to me. Thanks.

Hmm, I've got an idea, ignore the V6er... THOSE are the dashes I was talking about, markscustomkits.com. Like $3k, but it's as easy a swap as you can possibly have in terms of gauges.

Damn those are sweet. I really like the green one. But, ahem, for $3k, I'd look elsewhere. That's just a little ridiculous.

Here's all the info you need guys... Again when I post a pic, I doesn't mean it's mine, sorry if I forgot to mention.

http://www.markscustomkits.com/Additional_Products.html

Mark’s Custom Kits is pleased to offer digital gauges for the owners of the Pontiac Firebird and Trans-Am who want the look of digital instrumentation but don’t want the extra fiberglass component add-ons. These new gauges are designed to replace your factory stock gauges and keep the look of your dash without having to replace anything. The new gauges take the place of the stock analog gauges and give you digital accuracy in their place.

The new digital gauges come as a set; the speedometer and tach board has both numeric and bargraph readouts for the speedometer and tachometer functions, as well as the digital odometer with resettable trip odometer. The level gauge board has both numeric and bargraph readouts for the voltage, oil, water and fuel level gauges. They can be ordered in either super bright red or emerald green displays. No extra sending units are needed, but you MUST have the factory stock gauges initially to be able to order these. You also get two smoked Plexiglas plates that block the gauges faces so that when they are turned off, you see only blank gauge openings. Everything you need to convert your stock analog dash to a digital instrument panel is included. The price of the gauges include shipping by UPS insured.
Stock replacement Digital Gauge set: $1,500.00

Does anybody know of any digital gauges exactly like the ones shown by Transam86 that would fit in my '83 TA. I am looking for digital gauges, but those are way too expensive. I am looking for some that fit exactly like the green or red ones, but that are under $500. Thanks.

Check out Intellitronix's universal digital dash gauge kit. Comes with all gauges on seperate circuit boards, senders, and a sheet of smoked glass. A bit over $369 at Summit.
