Where the HELL can I get good lifts for the hatch?
I bought new hatch lifts about a year ago and they are already starting to leak. The hatch won't stay up during the winter but stay up during hot summer days. Is there a special brand to look for? These things aren't cheap either.
I got mine from autozone, last year I got the hood ones, then about a month about I got the rear ones, both are still working perfectly although I havent had them long. They were high priced though, I think I paid 60 or 70 for a set of the rear ones and around 30 or 40 for the front ones, I hope this helps!!!!!

yeah, the ones I got were 60 (40 for the hood struts) that was over a year ago and they work great. Don't remember the brand had an orangeish package with blue/yellow lettering. Just got them from a local parts store
I replaced mine when I got my car 3 years ago. I got them from Nappa and they still work fine. I can't remember how much I paid for them, but it wasn't too much.

I went thru that sh!t for too long with the hood and the hatch, what a bitch! Now when I hit the hatch release switch the hatch opens up all the way automatically. O'rielly's is where I got the hatch struts and the dealer for the hood ones.
I got a set of hatch struts at Pep Boys for $44.00 each and they even have the little tang on them for the rear window defogger. The GM ones don't have it. And they are very stout I can almost do pull-ups while trying to close the hatch!

I use a handle from one of those rolling measuring devices that police or const. guys use....I live in Phoenix so mine work quite a lot of the time 'cause it's hot enough here for 2/3 of the year - but the other third - I use the handle.....Jim

Ordered the hatch struts from Nextgenparts a week ago, hope they last. Meanwhile I use an old wood softball bat for the hood and a pvc pipe on the hatch.

If you ask a repetitive question, you're told to search.
If you search and bring an old post back from the dead, why the hell did you do that ?
Which is it ?

I agree with dead bird. Its better to resurrect old threads than start new ones. It sends out notifications to everyone who has previously posted in the thread that their was an update, and people might have new info on this issue.
Not only that, .. this particular issue is one without resolution. Their are no "UBER" struts that will not succumb to heat and cold, so this is a relevant issue.
Post new thread = UTFS!!! use the F****n search!!
Revive old thread = WYBUOS - Why are you bringing up old S**t!!!
Seems like a damned if you do, damned if you don't to me.
Re: Where the HELL can I get good lifts for the hatch?
All he was doing was telling everyone that he located struts at Sears. This is not an issue that has not been resolved hundreds of times before. Most people doing a search will find that there are plenty of available struts at many different places. I'm not giving him crap about bringing up an old post, but there are more recent strut posts than 8 years old! Especially when the information given is the same cost just at a different store. I was just asking why he resurrected the post to tell us this info. No reason to get pissy about it guys.
