spoiler brake light

Im doing a little project on my 92. I hate the factory third brake light on the hatchso I got a few spoilers and brake lights off an 88 and some verts in the junkyard. Of course its all old and briddle plastic so I had to get new screws for the light bar to the lens and I got new bulbs and now im on the hunt for the rubber washers. I checked ace hardware but not a perfect match. Anyone know where to get these rubber washers at?

Re: spoiler brake light

I've experienced the same issue several times. My personal solution was
to get past the **** issue of an EXACT replacement, and learn to accept
a functional equivalent. If an available rubber washer is a bit thicker, or
slightly different, but can accomplish the functional task, I hold my nose
& install it. I'm still **** enough to replace ALL elements (whatever the
situation might be), so as to be uniform.

As far as actual source of these parts, Ace Hardware dealers are
independents, and as such can have a wide variety of stock, so it might be
useful to find other dealers. Lowe's has a bit better specialty parts bins
than Home Depot.

Good luck.

Re: spoiler brake light

I got the rubber washers from ace because the hole in the washer fits over the light perfectly but its whole diameter is to big it wont go down in the hole of the light bar so I tried trimming some outter rubber away but when I installed it to the lens it touches each other but thats it. It wont seal water or moisture out of the lights. So I tried rubber o-rings they seem to work better its a perfect fit and its a little thicker then the rubber washers so ill try these and see how long the bulbs last before they blow or the new screws I just got for .
