Route a kill-switch throught the "Power" button on the KITT dash. Obvious enough for you to remember, but the interior's so nonstandard, all the added buttons should really confuse the hell out of anybody not familiar with 'em...

This also would have something like ten buttons on an overhead console (2 columns x 5 rows), and a new center console that would have an 8 column x 4 row block of small pushbuttons, followed by four rocker switches between the power window switches, followed in turn by 2 rows x 5 columns of additional pushbuttons.

In this case, the "Power" button is the leftmost of the four vertical rectangles left of the TV monitor. There is also confusion factor generated by a 4-row, 9-column keypad on the lower console and the upper console has a buttload of confusion factor: 2 columns of 14 pushbuttons down the middle, 8 rocker switches on the left side, and wrapping around in front of the driver on the ceiling, 6 more pushbuttons. Good luck making sense of all THAT!

I have a steel cover that goes over the steering column. It came with the car.

lol..since im a poor high schooler....i just pull out the ignition fuse...since there are allready a few blank spots in the fuse block and the writing on it is long gone....works well

i have a harley and a semi for theft deterent. did i mention harley is my 130lb male rottweiller and semi is my 120lb female rott. and you know my car still got broken into right in my own driveway,the only thing they got was my amp,and i was lucky they did not bust the car up.these days if a theif wants something bad enough they will find a way to get it alarm or not.

i have the best anti theft of them all.. i cant believe im the only one who does it... i have a DEI hornet with alarm pager and many sensors and starter kill, i am always within 1500 feet of my car so range is no issue for me... i can run out to my car from anywhere i would be within a minute and i can shoot accurately at 25 yards. they so much as break a window or open a door, and i know about it. i always carry my springfield 1911-a1 45 govt frame handgun (yes with permit), and im willing to put 2 in anyone who attempts to start my car, if they just attempt to break in ill give them a warning shot and demand they pay for any damages, but if i see em in the car they are in for some hurting.. i need a 4th gen interior anyway. sorry to be so violent but my car is the one thing that i have that noone will take from me. and if it wasnt for pay at the pump i couldnt have the gun on me at all times because of convenience store rules that you cant bring a weapon inside. NRA sticker helps too im sure

Why not just get a stock looking switch and lable it foglights or somthing, and put it in the right spot. That way they can stare right at it, and never figure out what it is.

Do you guys in the States have any 'Tracker' type systems, where if your car is stolen that the police can track it using GPS and land based radio tracking systems, till they recover it.

Yeah we do. I'm perdy sure OnStar is capable of vehicle tracking, and we also have a system called LoJack which actually puts a lil' camera in the kick panel along with the vehicle tracker....

I took a piece of ply wood and I carved it into the shape of a sword, put some grip tape around the handle etc...then I wrote in big bold letters "The Law" on both sides of the "blade" and if anyone ever messes with my car I lay down the law and give them a good whacking...

Check this out! this Popular Science article (Track Anyone With a Cell - Popular Science) talks about a new website (mologogo.com) which allows you to transform a cheap prepaid cell phone into a GPS tracking device! You can monitor its location through their website on GoogleMaps! I am considering hiding the phone in my camaro in a place which is concealed but still has signal. I would wire up the phone's charger cord directly to the car. That way if my car ever gets stolen, all I have to do is go online to see its current location. Then I have the option of calling the police or handling things on my own!

This post is an oldy but a goody. Alarms can be hit or miss, but better than nothing. The starter disables are great. Clubs are pretty much useless because the steering wheels are soft and can be cut easily. I use a heavy duty, "column/ingition/steering lock" armoured protector. Specially designed for the Camaro steering column (can also be used in other GM vehicles that use the same steering column). No vehicle using this device has ever been recorded stolen.







It's rubber coated and some padding on the inside protects the finish.

That looks like it's pretty damn theft proof. Bullet proof too

guy my dad works with came up with his own theft deterrent. someone kept breaking into his van back in the day of 8 tracks. he had his mounted under the dash. he eventually wisened up and bought a new 8 track after getting it one ripped off a few times. he glued some single edged razor blades to the back of the radio.

next day he came out and the van door was open. turned out the guy was grabbing the 8 track in both hands and yanking as hard as possible to break the mounting bracket. and yes, he did need a new carpet cause of the blood.

Get a car TAZER It bolts on the stering wheel and you can position it in front of the stereo as well and shocks the h3ll outta the car thief.


Ya do know that a big capacitor, like say from a microwave oven ,with a few wires and a switch does the same thing.But beware it can blow a hole in yer fingers when it discahrges if ya use a big enuff one.(food for thought)Also an trick we old C.B.r's used to use is to go inside the radios desolder the pos and grnd wires and swap out their connections.When it gets hooked back up the thief blows a 10cent diode and radios useless.If they take it to a shop to get fixxed theres a 3/5 card with owner info and that it's likely stollen if it was hooked up wrong.This actually worked.

knives, clubs, bats, wrenches.....all of them are cute ideas but i doubt any would be very effective. a gun is the only sure defense. if someone tried to carjack me i would give them two in the chest and one in the head. problem solved. (in GA, we have the right to defend home AND property. no problem killing some low life thug who steals cars!)

Hmm, for engine protection and I guess anti-theft, I was thinking about a switch that when there's no oil pressure that it cuts off any ignition to the motor, but you could have a hidden switch somewhere under the dash or something that would bypass this switch when pressed to start the motor up or to move the car incase of a break down. It's seem like a pretty reasonable dual-purpose switch, although I don't know how practical it is.

if sh*t gets really dirty i could always break out my Tec-9. I have 2 50rd mags for that. Ive got 100 chances to save myself then!

i'm pure old school- i have a Chapman lock.

i've never heard of anyone else who still uses it. it's basically a cable operated kill switch that you press in and it kills the power to the distrubutor as well as locks the hood shut via a pin that goes through a hole drilled in the hood latch. it has a special key to release it. even with the ignition key it wont start it'll just crank the starter. if anyone's interested i'll take a pic and try to post it.

btw, anyone else use one?

hopefully somebody still browses this. i want to put a simple valve in my fuel line under the hood for anti theft purposes. my question is that i'm not sure if blocking the fuel in the feed line would burn up the fuel pump before the battery dies from cranking.

personally im in the group that has POS cars. For now....I dont even have a dash in my car and the VATS is inside my heater box...lol....my car is still sitting in the same spot though.

If it's a question of some slime ball taking my car or me replacing the fuel pump, well - damn, dropping the gas tank sux...

Really though, in the time you could twist the valve - you could pop on or off the distributor wire too. Not sure how commonly a car thief would carry a distributor wire on him. I mean, if it's a pro, that's different altogether.

but i would have to carry the wire with me and make sure i had it when i went to drive again. besides if i hid the valve underneath the plastic sheathing it would be less visible with just the handle sticking out painted flat black

i just have a broke *** steering column that only i can get the key to turn in. second i live in a small town and everyone knows who car it is anyway and when i see them driving it there in deep ****. third living across from the sherriff and police station.

fyi for those who have weapons in the car , the thief would be in the car with the weapon any probly beat you with it. just my 2 cents
