Hey Guys, here are some pictures of the last years worth of work. The front bumper is a fiberglass piece from American Sports Car in Florida that has been heavily modified. The turn signal buckets have been modified into air intake ducts. The slits above the brake ducts are for flush mounted LEDs that are now the turn signal. The chin spoiler has been lowered 1.75 inches. This looks much more like the IROC race cars. The stainless mesh protects and feeds fresh air to the bumper support mounted oil cooler.

The hood is Harwood street weight 3 inch cowl induction hood that has also been heavily modified. The cowl vents were filled in and a 2014 Camaro hood vent graphed in. Since GM restricted the carbon fiber piece I modified the standard piece had had it hydro dipped. Also in the works are a Hawks tall rear spoiler with a 3rd brake light molded in and an adjustable slat to make it even taller if needed.

that's exactly what I been wanting to do to my cowl hood. how much work was that? and how much was the vent?

It took about five months of weekends to cut the hood, figure out the mounting system and use fiberglass to build the mounting flanges. The hood is made of two pieces of fiberglass that are bonded together so for a clean look I body worked the seem on the bottom. There were many many hours of block sanding and fitting and more sanding and more fitting. I think it was worth all the effort. The hood vent is about $100.00 and you can get it different colors.

Cowl induction hoods bring in cool low pressure air from the area near the windshield to feed the engine. The new 2014 hood vent is supposed to let under-hood air out to reduce lift and lower temps. I was afraid that leaving the cowl vents open would disrupt the air flow through the radiator and out the new vent. Since I'll be running EFI the cowl hood is more for clearance and looks than feeding a carb cool air. Plus it just looks like a more polished product.

How much work did you have to do to the front bumper to get it to fit? Im dealing with straightening mine due to heat and warpage. I have time to mess with it now but if I cant get it I am looking for other options. Thanks and looks sweet! nice work!

My car was hit at some point in the right front and I can see some tweeks to the frame rails. The Spohn K-frame bolted right in and it aligns at the front end shop without any problems. The right side fender took a little work to get the body line to line up. The left side was perfect. I then mounted and aligned the hood. The nose piece would have to meet up with those pieces. The fenders and nose contours fit very well but the hood determined the fender width. With the hood and fenders set the fiberglass bumper was really close, only off by about 1/8 of an inch on one side. I added a little filler to make the joint perfect. The Hood to nose gap was about 3/4 of an inch. I tried everything I know to close up that gap but nothing worked so I ended up pie cutting the bumper in the headlight buckets and raising the center to meet the hood nicely. Making it perfect was a lot less work than making the modifications. I'll post some pictures tonight of this work tonight.

Interesting pieces, but I'm guessing that you won't be doing much street driving? With all of the speed bumps, parking curbs, low spots in lawns at shows and autocross cones I would have torn up a fiberglass chin spoiler many times over.

Great thread I was just looking for something just like this my Camaro was hit right front corner and has that nasty bumper hood gap now I know how to fix it thanks!
