a way to repair torn seats

The drivers seat of my 85' camaro is loosing the stiching. Then the fabric starts to fringe. So the seat is comming apart. Should I try to fix it or just go with an aftermarket seat cover. I have heard of people cutting fabric from other cars and replacing it. But I am not sure if it is worth my time. If anyone has some info I would apriciate it.
Thanks,
