Originally posted by Spdfrk1990 There is a new SS ceramix not as good as the CMX but compareable to all the other top brands.
SS7300X
yeah, completely forgot about that line. i just started stocking it.
it carries the same 2 year warranty as the regular safety stop, but has a ceramic formulation to minimize dusting, and handle heat much better than organic or metallic pads.
Do you think its ok to use ceramix with drilled and slotted rotors. I know your not suppose to unless your rotors are turned cause they wont form to the uneveness.
I dunno i know your not suppose to use them with stock rotors that are un even. I think they would be ok tho ceramix arent made to take alot of heat those so dont do any road racin.
Sorry for the dumb question, but what do you mean by:
"make sure too shim it and use the silicone on the shim."
& another thing... at some point in here you mention that I should get new bearings. can you explain why?
If your gettin new rotors figured it would be a good thing so you have them with new races. Also shims keep the pads from wearin to the piston which will cause them to squeek.
OK, can you explain how to do the shims on the pads, Where do I get the shims & what size. I guess the silicone is so that the shims will stay in place right?
Thanks Spdfrk1990.
just back from buying the pads & bearings & after opening the box is now obious what you ment.
I whent for the CMX7300 because of what you guys have been telling me about dust. Let me tell you they look beautiful in the box.
Oh yes they do i been eyein a set at work . Ill get it in two weeks when im rdy for em. They are all nicely wraped in plastic and all with the shims and lube lol.
My brakes geting broken ended up being a good thing.
Other than all the money I wasted.
I had to lern how to change my own brakes now I can add that to my few mechanic skills. Plus since everything was out I fixed my fender wills, grinded all the rust sanded everything, & POR15 the hell out of it. its looking nice down there.
what color you guys think I should paint the calipers? Right now Im undecided between black & red.
Ive got my new calipers from Ed, (thanks for everyting Ed).
They are painted & ready to go in. But now that I look at the pictures that I had taken of my old ones. I think that they were installed the wrong way in my car.
Because in the picture that Ed posted in this thread the brake line is in the botom and the bleader on top, as were in my picture the line looks to be on top.
Can someone help me here I dont want to mess it up. Is it even posible to put the cailper in backwords?
I took the car out for the first time today. It feels OK not a big diffrence, I guess I was expecting to much. They do feel like they stop a little beter and the bigest improvement is that the car dosnt pull the the side when I slam on the brakes.
Im thinking that the system might need to be blead again. When I press on the brakes the pedal goes in almost half way before I can feel the car stoping. Is this normal? Im not shure what to look for & I also think that it might be all mental, because Im puting to mush atention on the brakes now.
what you guys think?
ps: I will be posting pictures of the brakes soon tey look cool, I think.
