Do any of the major chains still carry these things? I need new crush washers for my rear PBR brake line fittings but no one carries any sort of crush washer at all. Went to an autozone and theyre just like 'oh, people ask for them all the time, but we dont carry them'. Idiots...
Absolutly rediculous that I should go to three autoparts stores and not find something as basic as a crush washer for a brake fitting. I guess Ill have to order them them through a dealer.
CarQuest also carries them. If the old ones are still in good condition, just work hardened, they can be softened by heating to a dull red and quenching in some cool water.

they all have them.
most parts guys just suck at their jobs.
when ANYONE says they dont have it, then you get the manager. usually they can find it.

Not even the places named had them. At the AZ I looked for myself. Going to try some more tonight to see if I can get even something that resembles what I need. The ones I had where aluminum so I dont know if heating them up would work, not to mention that they where misinstalled when I took one side apart.
I live in an urban area where peoples hobby is chugging starbucks lattes and buying the largest house and ultra-mega-huge SUVs they can find to show up all their friends. That means that there arnt as many autoparts stores for broke *** people like me to get parts from. Hell, it took me 1 hour and 45 mins of driving from store to store just to get a replacement ign. coil. All the places nearby where picked clean.
do they have to be alum? most that i have seen are a type of copper color and could be made from copper but no real idea if they are. i got a small box of them from pep boys last week from the bolts and small parts isle.

Interesting that you asked about them needing to be aluminum. The C4 calipers I got from the yard had aluminum crush washers. The hose ends that attached to the calipers were also aluminum.
First for me as all the previous crush washers I've seen were copper. Then again, all other hose ends and calipers I've seen were ferrous (iron or steel).
With the C4 PBR's I began to wonder if they should be replaced with aluminum crush washers/hose-ends or not.
The aluminum crushes ALOT more then the copper ones do. I was hoping to find them but they only had copper. All in all Id say that aluminum is a much better material to use overall then copper is. Mine where completly conformed to the shape of the fitting, making a perfect seal. With that said I think Ill be ordering several sets from you, edmiller, just in case. Ill drop you a pm later...
After some driving, I finally found some that looked to be close to the standard stock copper ones. My front brakes have brass fittings with copper crush washers and iron calipers. My rears are brass fittings with aluminum calipers. I tried the copper ones for yucks (being careful not to crank the bolt down) and they seem to seal. I can only test it manually since the motor doesnt run but they dont leak so far. If they dont leak in use then Im a happy camper.

Aluminum or copper doesn't really matter. Earl's supplies aluminum washers with their lines but all stock lines I've ever taken off used calipers I have purchased have been copper. I use copper, almost everyone does. No big deal as they'll both serve the purpose.
