It would seem that the "Ghetto-gold" 15" cross lace wheel can only accomodate the LS-1 in the front. What options, if any, are there to improve or equalize the rear braking capabilities so they'll better match up with the front LS-1 upgrade?
I have 18" Z06 rims 9.5 front 10.5 rear and id like to put C5 Z06 brakes in the front and I was wondering if they would fit. Now the dilemma I have a 91 Z-28 with the drums in the back and whats the best back rear discs I can use.

Considering the factory Z06 front wheel was 17", and you have the same ones in 18", I would say so.
This just in folks, I put my 15" centerline convo's on my LS1 rear. With ZERO modifications they fit. Its sorta snug, it only gives me 1/4" or so of clearance, but hey, most supercars are under 5mm, so yeah....
Ed, will an LS1 kit fit a smaller rim (internally) than a C4HD set up? I have a set of light weight stamped aluminum rims that are just a hair too small for a C4HD kit.
14" C6 Z06 rotors/6 pot calipers will fit behind a base 18" c6 wheel with the proper ~2-2.5" spacer required to get those wheels to fit on our cars anyways.
I upgraded to the 1LE front brakes several years ago and they have been outstanding at the track all of these years. Of course the aggressive Hawk pads I run in them is what does all the work.
And with the 'R' compound tires wrapped around the 16" GTA crosslaced wheels, classic.
C5 brakes, using all C5 parts, will NOT fit inside stock 16" wheels (Iroc and Z28). The 13" C4 HDs will fit those stock 16" wheels. Now, a LS1 rotor setup and a C5 caliper will fit 16" wheels, there's a thread on it in the brake forum.
Ed
Just an FYI they WILL FIT, but REQUIRE MODIFICATION to the caliper that some may be unwilling to do. I am wrapping up my install under 92 Z/28 rims using all C5 parts. The caliper strengthening/cooling fins on the top need to be ground flat w/ the rest of the caliper body to give the required 0.100 min clearance (per Baer's 13" "Track" kit). Another member, SoCal, has also done this swap.
I've got Wilwood Dynalite II rear 12.19" on my Moser 9" rear. My stock 5-spoke Z28 aluminum mag wheels fit with NO problems! I am so happy. Just found out yesterday. These are the stock 82-84 15X7 wheels.
Calipers will NOT clear 16" gold crosslace rims with out some grinding. And its a TIGHT fit, there is maybe 2-3mm clearance from the body of the caliper to the inside of the rim.
I got them on, and the stock rims on the car now, I can take some pics if anyone wants to see.
OK this may sound dumb but I'm a little confused on the wording for the Firebird rims, crosslace, snowflake etc for these years. Here's a pic of the wheels I will be running:
I'm going to be upgrading the brakes soon. The pic of the 16" GTA crosslaced wheels with 1LE brakes above looks like it would be SUPER tight if at all behind my 15" wheel. I will be running a 1/4-5/16 spacer on all 4 corners as well. I'm looking to keep my SE as "original" looking as possible externally (aside from a different base color down the line). What are my choices here? will the 1LE's clear? Or should I stick with stock rotor size but upgrade to better rotors and dual piston calipers with good pads? The rears are drum currently but I will be upgrading that soon as well. I ran the Wilwood 12.19" Rotor kit before and it cleared some wheels and not others. I ran LS1 brakes before with 16" wheels before but haven't tried anything with these. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok guys I have a 88 firebird which inhaveba fouth gen rear end under from a 99 with no brakes on it I have a chance to buy some c5s from a 97 does it matter what year c5 caliber I use
So I understand for the 91-92 16 inch wheels you can fit the front C5 brakes with a small amount of grinding. Correct me if I am wrong but the main difference between the C5 and the LS1 caliper is the cooling fins. So could I take my LS1 calipers, bolt them up to the C5 brackets and stick them under my 16s with the C5 13 inch rotors?
looks like the LS1 fronts will fit the 15" weld draglites with just a 1/2" spacer. i'm waiting on the spacers from summit so i'm not 100% sure but pretty sure.
Hi
Can anyone tell me what hardware may be necessary to mount
the Ronal R-15s on a 1991 Z28 with standard front brakes?
I have one set from the "last batch" Ronal made which included
hardware listed as follows-unfortunately Ronal doesnt have this
application information
20 standard lugs(10 for some applications)
10 extended lugs for front wheels
4 hubcentric bushings (two for some applications)
2 hubcentric spacers for some front wheel applications
you can read this info on the florida ronal r-15 thread
apparently with the original batch of R-15s this hardware may or may not
have been included and one guy said people in the early days of this wheel were screaming their new wheels did not fit
and maybe this hardware was the "fix"
I would just like to know before I go out there and then
have to begin an experiment
and maybe someone can tell me how to ad a link to this post thanks
although I am starting to understand linkage what is the url of another thread?

quick question... iroc 16x8 wheels rears..... will they work fine on the front with a 1/2 to 5/8" spacer or adapter... Are the spacers safe with factory studs ? Thanks 84 z-28
I just upgraded to LS1 brakes on the front of my 92 vert and was wondering if the spare will fit over the LS1 brakes or will I need to pick up a 4thGen donut spare?
I'm not sure if the spare tires are the same for the verts as the coupe but it a self inflating type tire that you inflate with the can of air.
It's 19 years old so it probally won't work anyway.
A little late but no they won't, the LT1s are a different design than our stock front brakes.

Is that true of 4th Gen V6 brakes as well? (Reason I ask is I am buying an LS1 brake swap kit for my 4th Gen 3.8 car and I need new Calipers on my '86 with 16" GTAs.
Sorry for the bump of this thread but i think we should add more info on this thread. What size of wheels would be needed for cts-v with 14in rotors also for the 5th gen brakes waht size of wheels are needed?

I'm with SiCkRs we need to add some more info to this. I would like to know what wheels are needed for them to fit over the new fifth gen Camaro and the CTS-V brakes. I've seen a few threads on here I do believe.
what all wood i need to do and get to do a c5 or a c6 brakes on a 1990 trans am GTA front and rear with drum
you should try out bigbrakeupgrade.com i think hes the only one that offers that right now since eb miller has been to busy. As for brembo fifth gen i tried fitting them in a 18" the rears and looks like it might work but im not positive.
Heres some pics of mine with the test fit
also a pic of my old cts v calipers i think they look sweet on these wheels
Do you have any pics of the fitment? I was thinking of putting the C6 Z06 front brakes on my GTA also. I already converted my C5 Z06 and used HRE 540 19"/20" wheels. Thinking about the same wheel package with the brakes for the GTA. What do you think?
