Are the Wagner Thermo quiets (available at O'Reilys (sp)) any good? I had a friend with a 99 Camaro recomend them.

Maybe he won't after he checks his rotor wear. Thermoquiets are extremely hard pads that eat rotors qiuckly. A brand new rotor will be at discard thickness after 30K miles of using them. Are you experiencing noise problems?
He said that they were on his old Camaro. I don't think that he looked at them afterword. No, I am just getting a new rear end with disks and I need to get pads for it. I was trying to find some good ones. My front ones are going, too. My brakes are so noisy, I can't determine if it is my fronts or rears. I think both. The rear ones seem to be loose (they kind of pop or click when I am slowing down around 5-15 mph. At higher speed, they don't) and my front rotors are uneven. The car shakes when I brake.
i use the thermoquiets and like them. i am extremely aggressive on the brakes and they brake great. they don't fade too easily. they do not dust too bad at all also. as far as rotor life i cannot attest to it since i crack the stock rotors all the time(front), brand new @ full thickness.
LS1's waiting to go on the front... thermoquiet pads are also going on with them.

Wooooaaahh! You crack your front rotors, all the time? How many times? Do you race it every weekend and stop from 120mph+? Do you have any idea what kind of force and pressure that takes?

as for force and pressure not to certain but i subject them to massive amounts of abuse and heat. yes i do crack them all the time. they also wagner branded rotors as well. i do race every weekend and sometimes do numerous(more than 4 races) 0 ----> 110-130(sometimes more shh...) ----> 10 slow downs. after 6 back to back runs the brakes are done, atleast for a lil 5 min break. pun intended
actually i need to replace the rotors. i inspected them today and they had a few 1" cracks. i'm not driving it anymore.
Ever think about better rotors? Like slotted, or race made? Replacing rotors that much has to eat your wallet. Unless you have tons of cash... in that case, I'll IM you my address and you can send me a set pads for me to try out....
I managed to warp my front ones, and my rear drums shudder, too. Several mountain "cruises". They need to be replaced now, along with, maybe, the pads. The rear pads and probably rotors are being replaced, too. I just got a 1LE rear for my non-1LE RS, so the 12" rotors in the rear and the 10.5"s in the front is going to be odd. I just don't have the money to do a bigger brake kit on the front, yet. I'll get that sooner or later.
