Hello everyone. I just bought a 1987 305 4bbl stick camaro. I was driving it home and noticed both left and right front brakes where getting stuck like and some times not releasing all the way after the pedal had be released. I thought it was bad calipers so I replaced them but now the LF brake still grabs and does not release. There was a leak in the back brake line so I put in a new brake line. But it has NOT been bleed yet because I can't get the bleeder screw off. I think I may have to buy a new wheel cylinder. Unless someone knows a trick. All the fluid leaked out. I took advantage of this and cleaned out the 1/8" of black sludge at the bottom of the MC reservoir. And refilled with new fluid. The brake light is on.We are thinking cobo valve. But no auto parts stores around here carry it unless you guys know of some place online or who to call. So I may have to try to clean it. Both Left and right was bleed. Had to have the car on to bleed. So any way does anyone have input way my brakes are grabbing and not releasing? Any help would be awesome. Looks Like a very helpful site!

Welcome to TGO. I'd suggest that the rubber brakes lines are acting as one-way check valves--hey, they're 20 year old or so. The following link will provide some interesting reading (by the way, a search here is always a good thing):
Hey, Yeah I never would have guessed about the rubber lines. Not to mention my car has 141200 on the clock. I just finished putting on a new wheel cylinder in the back. I got two new wheel cylinders, new brake line and new drums that I will be painting red. sick, I know LOL. After I'm done. EVERYTHING in the rear will be brand new besides the shoes that have about 5K left. I know the rubber hoes up front are old. So You think to stop the problem maybe getting new hoses would stop the grabbing? Because I found a place that sells combo valves and it's going to be 85$. Thanks!
OK, cool. I talked to the Auto teacher at my school. (good friends with him, took all his classes) he said he'd put his money on the hose to as far as the grabbing and locking is concerned. I just got the rear buttoned up now back to the front to load the calipers with new pads and put in some hoses! Can't wait to drive her. Next after tunes and interior work is Headers!
Got the new brake line on. That was it! now it's pulling a little to the left when I step on the brakes so I know the rights got to be sticking a little. I'll replace that hose too. Half way done with the brake work. Still got to fab up some new front lines and get my brake waring light off. But at least no more grabbing! Thanks -Rick
