when i bought my 92 Z in 93 it had no emrgency brake cables. i never really worried about it since the car is automatic. i recently found out though that the e-brake is how you adjust the rear disc brakes. what i found is that im missing a pair of cables that go from the single cable that goes to the lever, to each rear caliper. problem is that gm discontinued these cables and there seems to be 3 styles. autozone shows 2 applications, a 56 inch and a 57 inch cable so i called gm and they said according to my vin # that neither of those are what my car is equipped with. of course since they are discontinued they couldnt read any other info such as style or length of the cable. just looking for any input here.

While the adjustment was true with the old Delco-Moraine calipers, 82-88, I don't believe the PBR's, 89-92, require it. Here's some info on the cables:
Get the longer cable, better more than not enough, if length is the only difference. Also, check online for prices after you find out what you need. Usually stores overcharge ya, try looking on summit or classic industries.
A little off topic... Why would a 1 year old car not have emergency brake cables??

that is a good question. i believe the car was hit and possibly had the rear changed. i found bits of glass under the back seat like the hatch had been broken. possibly slid over a curb or something as i couldnt find any signs of repair or damages back there except the glass bits and no e brake cables
