Hey guys, I am planning on slappin the c6 Z06 brake setup on the front of my ride. I plan on runnin a 19 inch wheel all the way around the car. Was curious, can someone please tell me whats the best backspacing to get for the front wheels, I wanted to run a 19x10.5 in the rear so I thought a 5.5 inch backspace would work there. For the front I would like to run a 9 inch wheel up front. Please help or direct me in the right direction to figure it out. Thanks
You really think the rear needs to have that much backspacing? That sounds a little wild... Is there a way to measure and calculate it? I dont want the wheels to poke out, just flush with the fender well.
When I had my 15x10 wheels with 325/50/15's, a 6.5"BS was needed to make it fit right. Never put wide wheels/tires on the front, but I'd imagine a 9" wide front one would need a 5.5"BS if not a 6".
My 17" have 5" of bs, with less than 1/4" to the tie rod end. No danger of hitting, but can't go any deeper.
With a 19", you should clear the tie rod & be able to go deeper & actually end up with the tie rod IN the wheel center. My concern at that point, would be rubbing while turning.
Ok.. Do any of you guys have brake upgrades done to your front ends? I am mainly concerned about the C6 Z06 caliper hitting the wheel. I figured with a 19 in, I wouldnt have a problem, plus the backspacing will aid in proper fitment and look that Im after. So I can live with a 5.5 or 6 inch backspacing... Thanx for all the info guys, really appreciate it.
5.5" of BS in the front is common, but like stephen said, the wheel needs to be at least an 18" wheel to clear the tierod.
Im running 18x8's with 4.5" of BS on the front, should have gone wider but didnt know any better when i bought them. Im using c5 zo6 brakes, no issues, but again like i said, the design of the wheel has a lot to do with the caliper clearing or not. I could easily add another 1-1.5" to the inside of the front wheels and still clear everything, it may start to rub a little when turning, but nothing major
for the rear, if you use anything less than 6.5" on a wheel that wide, the wheel will stick out from the side of the car. Even 6.5 will be about flush with the outside of the fender with a 10.5" wheel.
You will most likely need to hammer the front of the fenderwell a little, maybe some of the bumpstop area. It would be best to take a wheel of the back of the car, put a straight edge across the drum/disc face and measure back and see what kind of room you have and you will be able to see where it will need work.
Great info guys.. Thank you. Stephen.. I checked out Sinister's car.. He has 18s all the way around. 8s in front and 10s in the rear. I know you were only helping...I appreciate all your help, tips and advice. Org fo Life!

I apologize Oh Great One! Based on whats here on the org currently, I did my research, so if there are no updates for people to know about, dont get bi#tchy cause the info I came up with was incorrect. Have you never made a mistake??!! Already spoke to him about the matter so everything is cleared up now. Like I said, Thanks to everyone who in this thread who chimed in wit responses and advice. I do appreciate it.

Apparently you don't appreciate the help. Who's the one who got bitchy??? I emphasize a single word & you get all bent out of shape? GEEZ!
And I help you WHY? Maybe I've seen, just a few, things on TGO, in 12 years! Sorry for helping. I won't help you next time, if that makes you feel better.
You need to learn some manners & understanding of 'net language. All caps is yelling. A single word is just emphasizing that single word, to draw attention to it.
I used my manners in case your bifocals were fogged.. Go Back And Read Again. I thanked everyone for there input and advice, which included you. I also simply mentioned that I understood you were trying to help, but SinisterZ did not upgrade to 19s or 20s. I had already asked him. As a senior member and a human being in general, I respect your knowledge, and advice, but if I say I checked with the person you told me to check with, respect me enough to understand I have done that. Its not all that big a deal to be arguing over. My questions were answered and whether you care or not, I thanked u and everyone else.
Do you know what 19" wheel you're going to go with? Typically, the diameter isn't the issue with the c6 Z06 brakes; it's the caliper to wheel spoke clearance. My 18's clear the diameter just fin so you'd have to have a fairly restrictive design wheel (one that tapers WAY down in the barrel) to have issues there. With the wheel to spoke clearance, you'd have to have a LARGE front dish to really hit the caliper face. It's been awhile but IIRC my c6 zo6s stick about 1/4" past the wheel mounting face. But I run a 2" spacer for my c6 wheels so I don't run into clearance issues. Do you know what size tire you're going to run?

If I got the screen name wrong, I do apologize. I remember reading it a day or 2 before. I'll look around again TGO for the thread about 19s & 20s.
But you said you got the info off a Cardomain page, not from the person.
And at 38, not only do I not need bifocals, I don't wear glasses at all.
So are we good Stephen? If I offended you, I apologize. And I actually PM'd Sinister Z.
Iansane.... The wheel Im lookin at is the Nutek 505. Sorry no link, but you can google it to see a pic. Might run a 245/45 or 255/45 for the front. 295/30 rear.
