proportioning valve?

Ok do I have too change the proportioning valve if i am only upgrading the fronts to 1LE? I dont' mind the drums, I actually don't mind the brakes altogether. I'm converting to 5 on 5 bolt pattern and I'm told that 5 on 5 rotors off and impala/caprice are the same as the 1LE rotors just with the 5 on 5 bolt pattern. I already have the back converted to 5 on 5. I was given a pimp set of wheels that are 5 on 5 so thats part of the reason for the upgrade. I need some help here lady's and gent's....I'm not getting different wheels...and the offset is perfect so I can't use adaptors...nor do i want to...

Re: proportioning valve?

the prop valve does not care how many lugs you have or how far apart they are. you only have to change it if you change the rear brakes from drum to disc, or disc to drum.

Yes. Check the following link for info on the 1LE swap:

Re: proportioning valve?

i read that..it dont' say if you only change for fronts you "have" to change the proportioning valve. i heard guys say you do..and some say you don't i'm not putting disk on the rear...and yes i know lug pattern don't matter i'm just specifying exactly what i'm doing

The link is for the 1LE fronts. For best 1LE brake performance, I'd think the swap to a 1LE proportioning valve would be the best bet. It was my choice and I'm well satisfied with the results. Good luck.
