put on a 4th gen rear about a month ago. decided i couldnt live without my ebrake so i fabbed up a home depot special. bought a ferrule and stop set and some 1/8" wire clamps and about 3 ft of 1/8" wire cable.
1st measure how much wire you need for each ebrake line. on mine i needed about 10 1/2" for each.
2nd put a stop on my wire ends and crushed them in a vise.
3rd connect the stop end with the end of ebrake line coming from the rear with a clamp i used 2 on each line for some extra safety.
4th run the cables back to the handle side attachment and tighten it to your preference.
No offense fellas, but those cable clamps aren't gonna hold after repeated use. They'll start to slip and eventually you'll be fixing it again. Maybe not the welded cable stuff but the other fittings aren't really trustworthy.
I just had these cables made for the LS1 rear conversions. They have the correct cable ends that are properly crimped and will hold. The cables are custom fit for 3rd gens and even have some adjustability in the trans tunnel where the '90-92 cars do not. Pictures of the install:

Installed on both left and right sides using the stock cable guides and LS1 LCA mounted cable retainers. This is a 4th gen rear BTW:
I opted for an adjustable threaded cable end to give just a bit of tuning once the cables are installed. I know a few guys with '90-92 cars need to have a bit of adjustability where GM didn't give any with the trans tunnel cable as they did in the earlier years:
The cables have the correct 3/8" plug style cable ends that our cars use, as you guys know the 4th gen cable ends are different and the cables are much shorter:
Install the cable ends in the equalizer bar and push the cables up and into the steel cable guides in the trans tunnel:

Ed, do you make these cables for the 1LE/PBR calipers? i've been through 5 sets of napa cables and none are the correct length; These seems like the perfect solution.
I just grabbed everything from the ls1 car. Both rear cables, primary cable, interior handle, and body bracket. Tack or bolt the body bracket and viola, perfectly functioning LS1 e brake system. The factory 3rd gen body bracket is larger and makes a real nice and thick welding surface. I wasted my time dicking around with the 3rd gen cables off and on for 2 years trying to link them to the LS1 brakes. should have gone with the full ls1 stuff earlier, its no hassle and foolproof.

While your correct that they no longer had adjusters under the car with the threaded rod, the newer (my 91 FB has it for reference)Ebrake handle and assembly has an auto adjust mechnism to it. When installing the cables, from under the car, you just pull on the "T" and it will release a bunch of extra cable - if i had to guess probably 6 inches worth if its completely retracted.
wow ed, when did you finally finish the cables! i've been waiting for a couple years on them and you kept having vendor issues. I want a set! Are they on your website? i havent noticed them yet

Yes, I touched on that issue in the other thread dealing with LT1 rear cable issues a few minutes ago, I have both designs figured out (Lt1/LS1). I can take more pics if you'd like using the LT1 setup and I believe the same cable with work with both styles.

Nice to hear you noticed that too, I found that out while playing with the cables during the install. I have tweaked my cable specs accordingly.
