wheel nut is stripped

I think this might be ok here.

anyways i was taking off a rear tire to replace the rear calipers when i put my hex key into one of hte holes. and it doesnt seem to fit(it seemed to big) i looked in there and sure enough its rounded pretty bad. i got it this way and i have no idea how to get it undone. any help would be awesome. as of right now i cant drive the car to a shop so this would have to be a do at home fix.

thanks

Re: wheel nut is stripped

If you've got an impact socket a bit smaller than the nut drive that on with a hammer then loosen is slowly with a breaker bar. Some penetrating oil won't hurt either. Otherwise there are specialty sockets you can buy for removing stripped lugs.

Re: wheel nut is stripped

hammer an expendable socket on and hope for the best . also ask for help/advice from a local tire shop . this reason is why i will never use wheel locks like yours . if a professional thief wants your wheels they will get them . sorry , good luck .
