Brake booster with its own pump? - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

Anyone know where to get one? WHich one is good? and SHOULD i go with this setup to get rid of the vacuum connection to the motor?

As of right now the only accessory I have going is the alternator and and electric water pump for a new LT1 setup so im thinking of getting rid of the vacuum lines and getting a booster pump with its own pump. I saw this on hot rod tv but didnt catch the name or brand...

I checked it out and this looks just like what I am looking for except that I am not running power steering, this setup runs off of the power steering pump. No what?

anyone know of any other setup? I will email these guys and see what else they may have anyways.

Why not just add a power steering pump and then run the above setup? If you do find the brake booster you described you would be technically doing the same thing (adding a pump to assist with the brakes). The power steering option might be cheaper and readily available at any auto part store if it ever needed replaced.

Is there a reason you no longer want to run the vacuum assist on your car. If you are trying to clean up your engine why not just go with manual brakes?

I am trying to minimize everything in the engine bay as best I possibly can while still keeping parts that allow me to drive the call all the time. So i would rather not do a power steering setup because right now the only accessory I am running is an alternator.

I was hoping to find something with maybe an electric pump for the brake booster? I am trying to just get rid of the vacuum lines and I believe I will be having low vacuum anyways with a supercharged setup.

How do manual brakes work? I dont think this sounds like it would be good for daily driving or is it? I do not plan to drive my car everyday, only weekends but im sure there will be nights where I just feel like goin out for a spin so I dont want to limit myself.

You could try this and adapt it to your current brake setup

Or you could switch to a manual brake setup. Basically it's just a master cylinder that was designed to work without any sort of assist. It was standard in vehicles back in the day and they work just as well as assisted brakes (just have to push a little harder). They work just fine for a weekend car.

I know people have done this conversion to their cars before, so do a quick search and you will see that this might be the direction you want to go.
