I had a BRAND NEW 85 Trans am with the disck brakes................YOU DO NOT WANT THEM!!!!
My latest 91 Camaro and the 85 Tran am in the garageboth have DRUM......Brakes!
82-88 cars were equipped with Delco-Moraine iron calipers and 10.5" rotors, which have a bad reputation on the board; however, I ran them for several years (with the recall kit) and never experienced any problems. The 89+ rear discs, however, are PBR's with 11.7" rotors--are different breed of cat altogether.

I've been autocrossing with rear delco moraine iron calipers for almost 2 years and they are capable of locking the back wheels. I don't understand why people think they are complete crap.

One person said it, a second repeated it, a third took it as gospel.... Who knows. Perhaps in advance of the recall, there was some truth in it, but I was happy with them on my 85 before the upgrade bug bit my arse.
