Anyone have both 89+ E-cables handy?

I'm trying to get my e-brake working in order to get an inspection to get the salvage title off. The explanation is long, so if you don't care and can answer yes to the thread title, skip to the last paragraph.

Car came with a drum rear and I swapped in a 4th gen disc. Research at that time said I needed the shorter 1st design cables. Those were too long and I chalked it up to having drum originally. I shortened the main cable a bit but it never really worked.

Fast forward 4 years and I swap in a third-gen sized 12-bolt with the 4th gen disc setup. I'm trying to get a salvage title taken off and I'm pretty sure they're going to check the ebrake. I had forgotten everything I learned 4 years before.

So I get under there and see that the brake lines are way too long now (2" shorter width on each side of the axle). Assuming that since the cables are way too long, I must have ordered the 2nd design (long) cables 4 years ago and I order two new short cables. Get them in and discover they are the same size as what I all ready have.

Looking at things, the length of the cable isn't the problem, it's the length of the sleeve. With the position of the snap plates, the cable has to route under the axle effectively shortening it a bunch. If I route them over the axle like on a 4th gen, the cable is the perfect length, but the pronged snap is 8" from the snap hole. So either the cable need to be a whole lot shorter then the 1st design or the sleeve needs to be a whole lot longer on the 2nd design.

So those that have both designs handy, can you measure the the length between the two pronged ends of the sleeve and see if the longer cable has a longer sleeve?

Thanks,

Kevin D.
