What Pads / Rotors to use on a LS1 Street car do you recommend
Im looking to see what people recommend for a good street pad and a set of rotors on a LS1 brake conversion full front and rear. Only reason I ask is Im new to the aftermarket brake stuff as I just slapped what I found at a local auto store on and called it a day. Well I want to get out of that routine as brake fade can happen easy now
Heres some info on the carif it makes a difference 89 IROC, LQ4 , T56 , aftermarket cam and internals. SHooting for between 450 and 500hp
Im looking for a good set of street pads like Hawks, EBC and so on. Same with rotors looking either slotted, drilled and so on.
I know Hawks pads are on sale at a local performance place this month
Thanks Guys

I'm sure this should transfer over to a third gen, but here's what I put on my '02 LS1 T/A...
Porterfield R4-S

and some NAPA Premium rotors, blanks (not slotted or drilled since I was going for performance and not looks)

I just ran the cheapest rotors at rock auto and some cheap pads from them too. Rotors are rotors. As long as they're not out of balance and not drilled and slotted they work just fine. Expensive rotors are just cheap rotors under a different brand name most of the time. Rotors and pads were $75 before shipping. If you're wanting to track the car, I'd get some expensive high end pads. You really do get more for your money when it comes to pads, but Im not too convinced on rotors until you get way up there in price. If you want drilled/slotted rotors (I'd recommend against it for a street car) it's worth it to spend the money to get some really high end rotors. As far as I can tell most of the regular ones are made in china, might as well get the cheapest ones instead of the rebadged ones.

I've been running the Stoptech street performance pads on the LS1 bake setup. They are FF rated and are at the upper end of that rating.
StopTech Street Performance brake pads - front (D749) [63-309-0749]

I went with the stoptech pads as well. I got them through Rock Auto and had them shipped to me near London, came to $95 all in to my door. I went with cheapie blanks as well.
Just thought I would add, if you want slotted/drilled rotors, check over on ls1tech.com, there was a company (bigbrakeupgrade i think) had a decent deal going on slotted drilled rotor/pad combos. For the fronts, I could have got rotors and pads for $95. Everything I read about them though leads me to believe a blank rotor was the best choice for me overall.
