I beleive the knock is either one of the bolts that hold the preasure plate to the fly wheel backed off and is hitting the bell housing or it is a rod or main bearing. I had a guy put a rebuilt 5 speed in this car a few months back and he thinks on of the bolts may have stripped out. I also lent the car to a relative a while back and I told him to check the oil and who know if he ran it low. I was planning on putting a 350 I have in it but dont have the time or money . To many other projects. I also have another 305 crank and rods so it would only need a set of bearings and gaskets to get the 305 going again ($200.00) If its the flywheel bolt I would helecoil it a replace the clutch and pleasure plate. ($200.00)
