1992 Z28 -Interest

My father-in-law is selling his 92 Camaro and I was wondering if there is any interest here. It is a 25th Anniversary Z28 with 305 TPI. It is pretty much mint with only 77,700 miles on it. Power windows, locks, mirrors, hatch. New brakes, battery, tires. He always keeps it in the garage, usually with a car cover and won't even drive it in the rain. Car is white with the red stripes on the hood and gate. Interior is red/maroon cloth. I'm not sure of the exact price now, but I think it is $8500.

Pictures added below were taken within the last week.
If you are interested, I can put you in touch and/or get more pictures - I have a few more than what is posted here. I'm willing to email the high-res versions, if needed.

N.A.D.A. lists the 92 heritage edition Z28 at $9,000-$15,950.

This one is basically restored to like-original condition. The whole car was repainted. The front clip was recently repainted and all of the red striping is new.

Way to high of price. It's just a typical '91 Z28 but with the heritage stripes... you can buy the stripes aftermarket for around $160 and make any Z28 look like that.

Nice car, but I would figure $6,000 to be top money for it, $5,000 a fair price. But, it is worth what someone will pay for it.

Actually, it's a 92 (I assume you just made a typo). It was originally a Heritage edition Z28, white with red stripes. If you look at the interior pictures, you can see the "25th anniversary" badge on the dash (if not, I can provide a zoom of that picture). The previous owner had it repainted in solid white, so the rear deck badge and the stripes were just left off at that point. My father in law had the stripes re-applied this year to restore it like original. I think the only thing missing is the exterior heritage badging.

For a standard Z28, the N.A.D.A. numbers are much lower than the ones I posted above. I really don't know how much "restored" versus "original" affects the price.

I appreciate your insights. It helps to know what cars like this usually sell for. I just haven't found any cars that are close comparisons like this. It seems like most 3rd gens for sale are either beat down or hightly modified.

If the SPI Label located in the Left Rear locking storage compartment has the Z03 RPO code then your '92 Z28 is a Heritage Edition and not just a regular 25th anniversary Camaro like the other 1992's. Worth at least $8k in my eyes, depending on the buyer the repaint could help or hurt the car's value. Good Luck

What happened to the 25th Anniv Z03 emblem that is usually found on the hatch? The fact that the hood blisters are white leaves me to believe that the car is not an original Z03 car. Have a picture of the RPO sticker? That will say for sure if it a real Z03 or not.

Do you have a picture of the RPO code sticker that is located on the inside of the glove compartment?

I would say that car is easily worth your asking price if the code Z03 is on the code sheet, BUT the hood blisters need to be red to get the FULL amount. Without the complete original appearance of a heritage car that kinda hurts it's value.

One GM Z03 specific item which leads me to believe it's a Heritage Edition car is the fact that the Front grille (4th pic) is still body color or White. Granted the grille can easily be painted so the RPO code or Window Sticker is very important.

Hylton, I answered this above - the car was repainted. The badging and stripes must have been removed as part of the paint prep. They were probaby destroyed in the removal process. This also explains the white hood blisters.

Like someone else stated. If you would accept around $5000, we can rock a deal, I settled a loan for a previous Z28 on this site... but the owner backed out, so I'm sittin around with cash money.

Not even my car, but why would you offer $5k when the asking price is $8.5k and the low NADA is $9k. Low value does me the starting place for an unmodified clean car. Please don't take this the wrong way but why even bother making such a low offer?

Because it's a resonable offer. If you think it's worth more, than offer more... but heritage's sell for close to same prices as plain '91 - '92's.

But isn't that just a slap in the face, he wants $8.5k not $5k, move on to something else you believe can be purchased for nothing. NADA is what is, well that and whatever someone is willing to pay. In my eyes, if I believe a car is overpriced I simply move on to the next vehicle. 1992 Heritage Edition Z28's are not regular Z's they are unique and collectible because not many were made and they represent the last of the 3rd gens. Take care

Too bad you do not have the original rear anniversary badge. That thing is gold!
