Need help on valueing valueing 1987 Iroc with 383

These parts are for sale. My father and I were in the process of building my 1987 Iroc Camaro into an 11 second car when he caught pneumonia and passed away. It has been more than a year since my car has been sitting in my grandparents garage and I have given up on doing this project alone. I want to sell the tranny, engine, and car separate. Please don't ask for parts off the car because I want to sell it as a fully functional rolling chassis. The car is located in Vero Beach, FL and I can set up a showing for serious inquiries.

Please make an offer.
  • TH-350 Transmission. No idea how many miles on it. Ran great in the car. Don't know what stall the converter is or what brand.
  • 383 stroker built by HBR competition engines/ no idea on mileage (with paperwork)
  • 4.030 bore and 3.750 stroke
  • TRW pistons (doesn't say if forged)
  • 400 Rods reconditioned with ARP
  • stock flywheel
  • Crankshaft (doesn't say if forged)
  • Comp cam
  • Melling oil pump
  • Balanced assembly
  • Total cost for machine work and assembly was $2250
  • I already sold the intake and carb. The motor runs strong. I ran 13's at the track on street tires while breaking lose shifting into second and third. It was bad enough that I would have to pedal it to keep control. With slicks I honestly believe this thing would have run easily in the 12's. I would change the camshaft on it because I'm sure it has wear running .500 lift for a few years. Motor does not smoke and the rings should have more life on them. No knocking or bearing noise either.
  • Cyclinder heads
  • 2.02 intake
  • competition valve job
  • Ported bowls
  • Guide plates and 3/8 studs
  • Titanium retainers
  • Comp cams springs #950-16
  • Comp cams 5/16 hardened push rods (hi-tech) #7972-16
  • Rolling chassis
  • Almost new tires for street (245, 50, 16" standard iroc rims)
  • 10 bolt rear end with posi, 410 gears
  • aluminum driveshaft
  • Southside machine traction bars and subframe connectors (not installed)
  • Fuel pressure and air to fuel ratio gauge installed on a-pillar
  • B&M megashifter installed
  • Holley red fuel pump (this car was converted from TPI to a holley 750)
  • Jacobs ignition with Opto-timer (can adjust rev limiter and timing retard/advance from dash)
  • The carpeting in the trunk has been removed
  • Seats are stained and have tears
  • Dashboard is nice and undamaged as is the door panels, but the interior is not the cleanest
  • Steel braided brakeline kit (can't remember manufacturer offhand)
  • Eibach drag launch spring kit (brand new in box/ not installed)
  • A few spots of minor rust, clear cloat is bubbled in many spots, no body damage whatsoever, and car is black
I have receipts for everything.

I'd rather not ship it. Shipping something that large makes me nervous. I guess it is possible if the buyer sees the motor in person first. I would like $1,000 for the motor as is as pictured above. No intake or carb. I probably have close to $1,000 in work/parts into the heads alone, not to mention the machine work/parts into the motor.

If it gets to the point where you would like to ship i would be interested, What year was the motor built? Did it burn oil or lose compression in any cylinders? I happen to have the intake and carb that i like... so if shipping comes into play let me know.

Would you be able to gurantee a motor that doesnt knock??

You brought up a good point. Thanks for your interest but I decided I want to sell to someone local. This way I can guarantee the motor and if the person isn't happy I don't have to worry about return shipping.

But to answer your other question, it doesn't burn oil and it gets good compression. However, I was planning on changing the rings and bearings because they do have some miles on them and I was planning on going to a nastier cam and heads.

No thanks, I'm looking for a T-top. I'll keep it in mind though.
