85 Camaro - Project or Parts Car - Las Vegas

The car is a 1985 Camaro that our son purchased several years ago as a PROJECT CAR. He drove it home and into the garage.

The BODY: The body is in fairly good shape. There is body putty on the right front fender and bumper, it was that way when he purchased it. Most of the paint on the bumper looks like it is not true flexible bumper paint and is cracked. There is also several little bumps in the hood, like those you get when you close the hood with tools on top of the engine. The rest of the body is in reasonable shape. It is not the original paint job and definately needs to be repainted after the body work is done. The glass is in good shape, although there appears to be overspray and/or tree sap on it. The front windshield has one "star" chip in it and will most likely need to be repaired or replaced. The rubber around the windows and doors is cracked and or missing.

The DRIVE-TRAIN: The engine and transmission are the original ones and have 103,000 miles on them. The Engine is a 5 liter - rodchester quad - LG4I . Transmission is a TH700R4 - Automatic. Please note that the car is currently not running and that the vacuum system was in the process of being replaced when the project was abandoned. The air conditioning is original equipment, but has no freon and may not work at all. I don't know the condition of the drive line or u-joints, but it did drive into the garage, so the must be functional.

The INTERIOR: The interior is stripped down to the sheet metal. He purchase need sound deadener and carpet, but it never was installed. (He is selling it separately on ebay soon) All the plastic interior panels are with the vehicle but they were painted with black paint over their original color of red and the paint is chipping off. The upholstery is very rough, although some was in the process of being re-upholstered.

The SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: Suspension is a F41 (special configuration from factory. The struts, shock and springs are probably marginal, but it is hard to say as I have not driven it. The brakes worked when it was last driven, but one disc caliper has been rebuilt and not test driven. The wheels are original, but the tires are strictly shop tires and not road worthy.

I hope this is a fairly decent representation of the vehicle. It is a really good platform for a project car, but also good for someone looking for a good GEN3 parts car. It is garaged in Las Vegas and can be seen on lasvegas.craigslist.org if you search for a 1985 Camaro.
