Let me just start off by saying how sad I am to have to sell this car. I love this thing. But, I have been trying for almost 6 months to buy insurance for it, and nobody will do it. You have be at least 25, and thats 3 long years away for me. You need collectible car insurance.
As for right now, I just have liability insurance on the car, registered as an 88 Camaro.
Here is a copy and paste of my ad on kitcars.com: I bought this car in November with plans to finish it and make it my daily driver. Well, I completely attached the body and got the car running well, only to find that I can't get kit car insurance because I'm not 26 yet.
Many thousands are invested in this car, not to mention the hundreds of hours that were put in to completing the car.
*The car still needs paint. I didn't want to drop another 3 grand on a car that will only sit in my garage or be driven twice a month.
I converted the butterfly doors to standard doors, since I planned on driving this, and buttefly doors are impossible to use in a public parking lot.
Also, I recently had the car tuned at No Limit Performance in Morganville, NJ. They build race cars, so you can be confident that this 350 is putting out its full potential!
Here is a breakdown of what is invested:
1988 Camaro w/ 5.7L V8 - $3000
Evoluzione Evo II Kit - $8000 (shipping included)
Matching Kit wheels with tires - $2000
Miscellaneous Exhaust, Transmission, Suspension Upgrades - $1000
I am essentially asking for a price that gives my labor away for free!
The car is complete, but heres what you may want to do to make it a show car:
1. Paint it - it is currently gloss black because of the gel coat, but filled rivets are showing in green fiberglass.
2. Drop it - the suspension is currently dropped close to 2" on eibach springs, but it could stand to be lower.
3. Interior - The interior is complete, but looks exactly like an 88 camaro. Its up to you if this is the look that you are going for.
I have seen completed Evo's sell for over $25,000. Buy mine and save over $10 grand.
**The car is currently registered in NJ, and I drive it quite frequently. The odometer is not original and shows a much higher mileage than actually exists. Actual chassis mileage is probably around 150,000 and engine mileage is closer to 11,000.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Price: I'm looking to get $13,999 for it, but am willing to accept best offers. Car is located either in Marlboro, NJ or Middletown,NJ, always in a garage.
I'm always toying with the idea of painting it and putting the finishing touches on, but then my senses kick in and I realize that it would be a waste of my time and money, since I'll never drive it (or at least not for 3 years! )
Here are a couple pics. I'm at the office right now, so I can't put much time into this post. When I get a chance, I'll take/upload better pics.
Important Note: This car was just tuned, and I haven't taken back to the track. It ran an 18 when the timing would not let the car over 3,000 rpm. It feels like its in the 14's now, ballpark. I'll post here if I get a chance to take it back there soon.
(You'll notice the rear wing is not attached. I have it, I just decided I like this look better. You can always attach it yourself)

A finished Evoluzione Camaro looks wonderful. I've deeply looked into purchasing a kit for my Camaro but just couldn't funnel in the money to do it. If you have a problem with this car, then don't say anything, but it takes GOBS of work to convert it all over, definately a head-turner.
i agree leave the guy alone. no ones asking you to buy it or drive it. I think it looks real good. Just not my preference. Good job, keep looking for the insurance, maybe try progressive i know it sounds weird but they do alot of insurance. I also would hold onto it if i was you. I know its not insurable as a "kit car" but you can get full insurance.
This is not debating whether or not people like what is done to the car. It is a 3rd gen with a body kit. If you dont like it to bad. This is a for sale section not a section on the merits of a body kit, and the purity of a 3rd gen.
I kinda like it too. wondering why you didn't go with lambo door hinges. not really my style but it doesn't look bad. I think alot of people on here need to shut up, if they don't like it who cares don't look but they are the same ones staring at the fat chick on the beach in a bikini and whining about it being disgusting, THEN DON'T LOOK. Good luck with sale
Thanks to those who are helping to keep this post on topic. I currently do have the car insured through Progressive, but they will only pay $2k-$3k if it is in an accident or stolen, since it technically is a 1988 Camaro . If I get hit by somebody else on the road, their company will owe the full value of the car as it sits, but if the car gets stolen, my company will only pay the book value of an 88 camaro. It sucks.
To 91 355 z28: And how would I do that? You recommend that I lie on the title, and to the state, scratch off the vin number, and register the car as something else? I sure hope you don't work at a hospital, or worse, for the police...
Oh, and how does an American car with a European body kit = Japanese rice?
To R4][N_M4l{3R: Its not trying to be anything except a cool looking Camaro. It doesn't say Ferrari or Lamborghini or any other brand on it. It has a hint of Italian styling, but so do many cars on the road, regardless of which country their manufacturers are based out of.
Please Listen to bahsarie: this is the "for sale" section, not the "for discussion" section. Unless you have something nice to say about it, which is always welcome

Hey man that doesn't sound right, I have an 89 iroc, i did a complete restoration and my insurance said they would only give a little over 3000 if it were totaled, unless i got it appraised. IT was only 75 bucks and now my coverage is over 12000. it just a thaught Oh yeah my insurance is american family if it helps. Nice car by the way, wish i could do the kit, my body man said i would have to get a second morgage first. lol
that car looks sweet and as for the insurance the appraisal is the way to go. I to do a resto on my GTA and now it is covered by every individual piece on it plus. Look into the appraisal and hang on to that car. It i svery nice and is one i would love to call my own.
With the right set of wheels, a lowering kit, and some window tint, that could be a really fun car. Couldn't you register it as the original car, Camaro, and consider it a body kit? My buddy has a Chevelle that he keeps "parade & show" insurance on. Supposed to be driven in, and on the way to/from parades and car shows. Wonder if there's a loophole somewhere there for you.
Good luck either way.
Looks like you did a very good job putting it together.
i've wanted one every since they introduced the first version, but I couldn't afford it, and still can't.
But, could you post a few pictures of the engine bay so I can see how the headlights and fenders look?
how fat are those rear tires? i would do an adjustable suspension. and a sweet paint job. as long as the interior is in good shape you should be able to find someone to buy it.
Nice nice car this is the first time ive seen this done to a camaro lol i have a 88 camaro also and that would be sick to do it can you post more pics or send me some donaldhughes24@hotmail.com
Stay out of the ad with negative comments. This is the classifed section where your negative opinions ARE NOT WELCOME as that is not the point of this forum. No one cares if you don't like the car.
don't listen to the highschool kids. car looks sharp. if it's a legitimate car with the vin you should have no issues with it at all.
come on, the highschool kids. im 17, i think the car looks awesome. it just depends on who you are. and like they said earlier this is for selling the car not trashing it. lets keep this clean alright.
not trying to hijack your thread but DAMN, that is the most awesome camaro ive seen. Where did you buy the kit from/ Any info would be great as I would like to have one myself and BUMP for a SWEET A** RIDE Bro!!
If you still have this car, when I get back from "The Sand Box" in Dec 2009 I would like to take a look at this car....I have been looking for one for a long time and am not into building one....
