Car: 85 Z Engine: 383 Transmission: 700r4 | 85 Z28 in Minnesota Well I hate to do it but I need to sell my car. I bought a 99SS instead so here it is.......
1985 Chevy Camaro Z28
I have had this car since 1992. I bought the car from Lewiston auto. Since, I have done a lot of upgrades. I will do my best to list all upgrades I have performed. The car has never been driven in the winter since I have owned it. I have also stopped driving it in the rain about 4 years ago to make upkeep easier.
In 1995 I had the car painted from Yellow to the current color “Bright Sapphire Metallic. In summer of 2005 I again repainted the car. This time it was painted do to the doors being in bad shape and front bumper cover being cracked. I replaced the front bumper cover and both doors. I got the doors from Thirdgenresource.com out of South Carolina. I replaced both upper door hinge pins with a more robust setup.
I have replaced the whole dash with a 90-92 Camaro style. I wanted the more rounded and modern look. The seats have been recovered by me in 2004. As you can see they are in perfect condition.
The car was originally a LG4 (305) 5 speed. I put an Auto transmission (700R4) out of a 1992 Pontiac Firebird. The tranny has a TransGo shift kit installed in it. Also has a Midwest Racing Torque Converter 9” Lock-up 3000rpm Stall. I took out the Manual transmission because I got sick of shifting all the time.
The current engine was put in 7/06. It is a GMPP ZZ383 rated at 425hp. The engine has 2000 miles on it.
I installed a Holley Stealth Ram MPFI this last winter. Also running an Innovate LC-1 Wideband O2 Controller.
Exhaust is Hooker 2210 Ceramic coated LongTube Headers 1 3/4 in primaries 3” Collectors. Custom Built 3” Y-Pipe and Hooker 3” CatBack system.
The Rear end has been replaced with a 1999 Camaro SS rear. 3.42 gears posi.
I have also installed UMI subframe Connectors. That helps stiffen up the body of the car. EnergySuspenion bushings installed in the rear suspension.
Rims and tires were just installed this spring. Corvette GrandSport wheels. 9.5” wide front and 11” wide Rear.
I have the receipts from most all of the parts I have installed.
