1984 Camaro with strong 350 in Iowa - $2500 "offers"
I recently moved to Iowa and since this is not the best winter car I am force to sell it and buy something that will be better winter driving for me and my family. I have many new parts to go with the car that I have not had a chance to install yet. I had planned on fully restoring this car but with the move and work just never found enough time to finish everything.
Car Overall:
1984 Chevy Camaro Z28
Approximately 175K on body but only about 30K on rebuilt engine and less than 1000 on rebuilt 700R4 Transmission.
Car was painted in early 2001. I am the second owner of the Car.
This car was a Florida car until this year. Has never seen a winter let alone sand and salt.
This is a near zero rust. There is some surface rust on the underside here and there in a few places but it’s pretty much none existent .
I have undercoated the underside once I moved to Iowa to protect from the elements but have decide it is better to buy something newer for the winters up here.
Engine:
Chevy 350 with 4 Bolt mains. Still has std. Bore and Crank.
This engine was rebuilt in 2000 by previous owner.
Still has stock Aluminum intake from original 305 engine. I do have a brand NEW Edelbrock Performer RPM Series Dual Plane intake for this engine.
Has a new Holley 600 CFM Carburetor installed less than 200 miles ago.
Also a New MSD Distributor installed same time with Carburetor.
Plugs and wires changed less than 500 miles ago.
Just changed the oil and filter as of 10/19/2008.
I also have a brand new set of MSD custom wires for this engine. The kit has everything you need to make your own custom length wires so you can route the wires the way you see fit. These are still in the box never used just opened them to look at them.
There is also a MSD 6AL install but just not hooked up. Never hooked it back up when I changed the carburetor and Distributor.
I also replaced everything in the A/C system expect the Condenser.
New A/C Compressor
New A/C Hoses with protective wrap.
New Accumulator and orifice tube.
New Evaporator Core
Fully charged and working with new belt.
New alternator and started install about 1000 miles ago.
Replaced stock fan and fan clutch with a low profile light weight fan. Still have original fan and fan clutch all in great working condition.
Transmission:
Original 700R4 rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago.
This was update by converting the weaker 27 spline input shaft to the better strong 30 spline.
I had this rebuilt with good street performance in mind.
Valve body modified for firmer shifts without it being too crazy.
Corvette servo.
Larger main boost valve.
I spent $1300 just on the rebuilt of this transmission.
New torque converter with around 2000 stall.
New filter and transmission oil.
I have also wired the Torque Converter lock-up into a switch on the dash. I prefer the manual control over it. It still unlocks whenever brakes are applied on it own.
Hayden Transmission Cooler installed.
Misc:
CD player installed by previous owner works great just never had the need to change it yet.
New 6X9 speakers in the rear wired to a small amp that came with another car I had bought.
Currently has a Sony 1000W amp and 12” Sony explode sub that is not included with the car.
Has American Racing 15X7 Rims with center caps and locks. The Key for the lock is with the car.
Tires are 235/60/15 all around. Front tires are newer and still good tread in the rear.
Rear axle is a 3.23 gear non-posi sorry. These gears still give pretty good acceleration and decent fuel economy. Avg. is around 15 mpg
I also have a pair of UMI Performance Sub-Frame Connectors in Red that go with the this car. These add the stiffness to the car that Uni-bodys lack.
The Sub-frames are a direct fit for this model and are the weld in type.
Also New Grant Steering Wheel
Also have an Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushing kit for the car. These are the red bushing. Kit is brand new. I have only installed the Sway bar end links.
All the other bushings and hardware are still in the original box.
I also have a Tow hitch for the car. This is a bolt on piece with a 2000lb limit. This is has never been installed on the car.
Car has Power windows.
Heat and A/C work
Wipers work. New blades as well.
All new headlights high and low beams.
Interior lighting is blue.
Has a set of aftermarket gauges for Water Temp, Oil pressure and volts, stock oil pressure and water temp no long hooked up.
Problems:
The windshield is cracked. Still drivable just isn’t pretty. When I first got this car one of the exhaust hangers broke while driving on the interstate. I removed the muffler and exhaust pipe up to the converter. I then later removed the converter altogether since it was already hollowed out and just slapped a flow master muffler there as a quick fix for the noise. This is still a loud car and a full exhaust system would be better. The windows had tint from being a Florida car and the tint is not in the best shape. I have removed it from the rear hatch but it is still on the driver and passenger door windows. The carpet was added to the car but it doesn’t look the best as you will be able to see from the pictures. For $200 or less you can find a brand new complete molded carpet set for the car . It is also missing the front ground effect.
This has been a great car and hate to part with it but I need to do what’s best for my family. I wouldn’t be afraid to drive it anywhere. Feel free to email me to set up a test drive. If you have any questions or need more information please contact me and I will be happy to help.
Asking $2500 for car and extras that I have for it listed above as well.
