i dont know if there is a better place to post this on the forums if there is tell me and ill move it. i have an 88 iroc with a 95 lt1 engine and the tranny from a caprice w/ about 65k on them. it has edelbrock headers, an aftermarket high flow cat, and flowmaster exhaust also an exhaust dump, and the computer has been tuned. has four new tires on it. car is candy red, decent body, needs a new hood. the problem is the car is currently not running, pretty sure it is an electrical problem because of the way it stopped running. i am in the military and in NC and have been all over the place and not had the time to try to fix it since it broke last year. when it was running it ran beautifully and had tons of power, shifted smooth and sounded sweet. the reason i am posting it here is because i would like to sell if but am not sure what its worth, i paid $4,000 a couple years ago for it but it was working and in better overall shape. was wondering if anyone could offer me some opinions of what i should look to get for it, and or if anyone is interested in purchasing it. i would love to keep it, but as stated i dont have the time to fix it and get it registered and move it down here. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advanced - Tim

umm with the info given 4k IMO is a little high, maybe 2500 since its got a no running issue. how ever i would like to now more info, as others would. is it a manual or auto? ttops? any options? hows the interior overall? and i now some one will say it, get some pics. a pic is worth a thousand words. ummm...hmmm. o is it 5.0? or 5.7? and how was the wiring done? properly? or slipced in? and the way it stopped running, desrcibe it. please.
its an auto, the 4l60E i believe is the one that came on the motor. the interior is a little stale from sitting. the wiring i believe was pretty damned well done he even wired in the check engine light and everything. no t-tops, i dont have any current pics, i can get some in a couple weeks when i go home for thanksgiving. some pics of it when it was being built are here http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/lt...r-started.html (Got'r started!!!)
and i know im not going to get near what i paid for especially not running, but i dont think i will get to fixing it.
the car is in old lyme, near groton, ct. if i knew what caused it to stop running i would have fixed it. i believe it is a wiring problem as it sat for a few months and i came back on leave, changed the oil, charged up the battery, and it started up and idled fine, i let it warm up a while and then took it out. about 10 miles into a drive and it just lost power. i was on the highway and the tach stopped and gauges and engine all stopped and i just rolled to a stop in the breakdown lane. it turns over fine, and there was no sputtering rough running or anything, the only reason i noticed was the exhaust note ceased. which is why i think it may be as simple as a mouse or something chewing some wire or a connector coming unplugged. i really havent even gotten to look at it. i had to have it towed home and i left a couple hours later to head back to nc. and everytime im home im busy with family and friends andno time to look at it.
lmao. not laughing at you or the car but i think i now what happened and 60 bucks will fix it, i think. i to was driving and then the car stopped, turned over fine but didnt start, the problem? the coil pack died, also the ignition control module fired. to check it, well test the coil pack. see if power going to it, then leaving it. but anywas no ttops and im not interested but good luck on the sell. looks like a beautiful car.

thanks for the additional info. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time but that explanation helps a lot more for a prespective buyer then the more basic one you listed above. It looks like a nice car based on the original build pics
Dude59,Man mine did the same thing a few years back. You described it too a T.Mine was the ignition module.I had another module act the fool. This time it would start sometimes - sometimes not. When it started it might run for hours.Other times it would run 10, 15, 20 minutes and die.Would start - might be the next day but it would eventually start. Damn near drove me crazy.Check the module, might get it running. The module can be checked at Auto Zone or Advance. If you get a new one - it seems as if heat is the module killer - use the grease that comes with them. It is supposed to be an insulator for the module.Just my 2 cents worth.Good luck.
Dude59, my car died the same way and it was the ignition control module in the base of the distributor. It cost about $50 and took about an hour to fix. If you have time, you may want to try changing it while you're home for Thanksgiving. It's ALOT harder to sell a car when it's not running and buyers have to guess what it might take to fix it. (just a humble suggestion) You may also want to go ahead and change the coil too if the ignition control module doesn't do the trick (next most likely cause). MSD makes a direct replacement upgrade coil MSD part no. 8226 that you can order at your local parts store for about $50. The pics of the engine bay and engine look GREAT by the way!
