Car: 1988 IROC Z
1988 IROC 5.7
Well the time has come, Ive been dreading having to make this post but circumstances in my life right now leave me no choice. I had big plans for this car but I have to sell it.
The car is a 1988 IROC Z 5.7 T-Top car and it is a true IROC. I had a carfax done on it and it came back clean. However I didnt realize that the link would timeout and I never printed it. I will post the vin if youd like to run it yourself.
I bought the car minus the motor, although I do have a stock 350 gen 1 motor I will throw in along with all the extra parts that came with the car. Im no mechanic but Im pretty sure all that is needed are a set of heads. The motor came out of my Yukon and was a strong runner. But as it sits a nice LS motor would be the way to go.
Some parts on the car:
-Edelbrock Rear panhard bar
-BMR boxed Lower control arms
-BMW bolt-on style lower control arm relocation brackets
-Edelbrock Torque Arm
-3" exhaust, y pipe all the way to the rear where it ends in what looks like a
Flowmaster which then splits.
-9" rear end with disc brakes.
- B&M ratchet shifter
Some of the extra parts are:
-Factory intake
-Edlebrock High Flo runners
-Factory throttle body
-Rebuilt 700r
-Shorty headers
-Aluminum drive shaft
-Brand new headliner
-Various other small pieces
-Most of those parts have been sandblasted and are clean. No oil or grease.
Now since Ive bought the car Ive torn it down to paint it. I mentioned Im no mechanic but what I am is a painter. So the door jambs as well as the hatch has been done right, by removing them. Ive also painted the engine bay the same as the exterior. I am finishing the paint on the quarters as I type this so be aware the car is apart still. I can and will put it back together unless someone wants it apart still.
Color is a one off color mixed by myself. It is a red with pearl added. For some reason whenever I take a photo it looks orangish, it is not in person. Trust me, I hate when red look orange.
There was very little to no rust on this car which is one of the reasons I wanted to keep it so bad. Even in the common bad areas like t-tops, floors, core support under radiator.
Ill leave a few photos here as well as my build thread. Although the build thread hasnt been updated to recent. As it sits right now all that is left to paint is the quarters and they will be done in the next day or so.
When it comes to the paint here is how I would describe it,
-Has it been blocked for hours and hours, no.
-Has it been color sanded and buffed, no.
-Is it perfect, no
-Has it been taken apart and sanded and prepped correctly, yes
-Does it have enough clear to be color sanded and buffed, yes
-Are all the jambs, back sides of doors, engine bay, and everywhere else been
prepped and painted correctly, yes.
Interior- The interior is in decent shape minus the front rugs, those are trash. The rear rug is okay at best. Seats are decent, has typical wear and tear and a few rips. I was going to replace it all but cant.
I really dont know what to ask for this car, I paid $1300 and added a pretty decent paint job so Im going to ask $2500 for everything. I am flexible on price but dont come at me with a ridiculous offer.
If there is anything you want to see or I didnt mention please ask. Im sure Ive missed something.
Here is the build thread, just remember I havnt updated in some time.
