Re: 1992 California Highway Patrol CHP EVOC B4C 1LE Camaro
Yes,
the car is no longer for sale.
the car is now completely apart for restoration. The car is now at the body shop and completely stripped and apart for paint. Expect paint to be completed within next 2 weeks. Many restoration exterior parts ordered and interior parts being refinished. Dash pad will be the biggest struggle. Still trying to figure out a way to remove and then replace the dash pad due to the roll cage. The windshield has been removed for paint however this is not helping at this point to remove the dash pad and then re-install a mint dash pad that I have. A dash cap may be the only alternative.
Correct CHP graphics have been obtained for correct exterior restoration to in-service appearance.
This will be VERY NICE CAR when completed.
Thanks for your interest!

WOW! i remember that car. the first, and last, time i drove it the odometer showed about 3000 miles on it. my last time seeing this car at the academy (when i was there for for motorcycle in-service training in 2005-i retired in 2007) i went to EVOC and tried to get someone to let me make an offer on the car and i was told it was going to the museum. it sure is nice seeing someone is going to restore this car.

The car got caught up in "Arnold's Were broke so let's sell everything" campaign and was sold in 2011 at auction. Up until then the talk was always that the car was going to the museum. The car spent 18 years at the CHP Academy. The car was sold not driving as the rear-end was once again toast. When retired from active EVOC duty in 2002 the car was then painted all black as used as a "Rabbit" car for he cadets to chase. Eventually maintenance money ran out for this unit and the car was parked and some times hidden around the EVOC track with the eventual goal of putting the car in the CHP Museum. Of course that never happened!
Here are updated pictures of the car as it is now repainted. The pics start with the car at the academy then proceed with the condition in which I received the car. New Paiint pics are at the end of the album.
