Are either of these good buys

Hi,

I have always loved the looks of 3rd gens and am looking at possibly buying one. I have found two good looking cars in my area but don't know if they are good buys or not and was hoping to you the seasoned members to chime in. They are two different cars one more for race and another that is clean and stock. What are your opinions.

Thank for any advice.

Re: Are either of these good buys

Both cars look pretty clean, however, I would lean towards the more original one.

The "race ready" car has had a lot of modification done to it, including removing the rear seats for the roll bar. At least with the original one you have room to make mods as you'd like and how you'd like instead of buying someone else's project that was built from their vision, if that makes sense.

Plus-if you're in it for a car to take to the track, get a hard-top or at least a t-top. just my two cents.

Re: Are either of these good buys

i would also suggest the vert over the "race ready" iroc
who knows what has been hacked on the race ready car

you also know as long as you take care of a vert, they tend to hold their value better than the coupe's

at half the price, you cant really go wrong, im sure they would take mid 4k for the car

Not to be a ***** or anything but i have been in contact with the owner and he is pretty set at the 5500. Just thought I would mention that. Also, there is an accident on the carfax. It doesn't appear to be a bad one or anything but it is on there. Please don't think I'm doing this to deter you from it so that i can buy it lol. I just thought i would pass this info along.

just remember, money talks, if you show up to the house with $4800 cash, and offer $4500, you will more than likely walk away with the keys and title when negotiations are done, if not, and you really like the car, go get a cashiers check for the difference(or the rest of the cash if you decided to bring it)

it looks like a clean car in the pictures, but i bet there is enough wrong with it that the $5500 price tag is just a dream for the seller, the fact he says the car is "very rare" tells me he doesn't know very much about the car or he's hoping the buyer is ignorant to them

Bama thanks for that info about the door and the accident and I like the negotiation tactics of bring the green and seeing what happens.

You are right caveman. Show up with cash and who knows what he will take for it :-)

No problem. There was no frame or structural damage showing up on the carfax, just look like a fender bender.
