1982 Z28 For Sale, 5.0L and 5-speed

Solid, good running original-owner. T-tops, tilt wheel, int. wipers, rear defog, rebuilt 5.0L carb. V8, rebuilt posi differential. Originally a 4-speed car, upgraded to 5-speed w/B&M shifter and hydraulic clutch. NO body work ever: Ziebarted when purchased new 32 years ago! Original paint, wheels, interior, and rare fiberglass hood. New fuel pump and master cylinder, very good tires. Some spare parts available. Asking $3300. Can email pics.

I'm in Newark Ohio, about 30 minutes East of Columbus.

Here are the details on my Camaro:
  • I ordered this car new from dealer in 1982, and it is pretty much original with few modifications.
  • Original 4-speed Saginaw car with mechanical clutch. I upgraded to a 5-speed, hydraulic clutch setup, and console top w/5-speed pattern from a 1984 Z28 about 40,000 miles back with new clutch, pressure plate, and B&M shifter.
  • Installed a rebuilt 5.0L engine (Quadrajet carb.) at 144,000 miles. Car has about 205,000 miles now. Runs strong, burns a little oil. The smog pump & lots of the emissions stuff has been removed.
  • Original exhaust system
  • Posi differential (drum brake) rebuilt at 152,000 miles.
  • Had the car Ziebarted when I bought it new in 1982. Has a dime sized spot of rust coming through top lip of the driver's rear fender.
  • Shallow dents in driver's front fender just behind nose, and at driver's rear fender just ahead of tail light (I have another spoiler piece to replace the cracked original spoiler corner).
  • Some small dings, mostly on the doors. Passenger door was spot-painted by dealer when I first bought, as it had a small ding when delivered.
  • Driver's door sags a bit when full open - needs new hinge or bushings to take out the play
  • Drivers mirror remote cable broken, but I have another entire remote mirror
  • Needs paint & re-striped
  • Carpet & front seats OK for 32 years, but need replaced & recovered if you're restoring
  • Door panels in good shape
  • Dash pad has a small crack in the speaker grille on both driver & passenger sides
  • Most of the original blue interior plastics were peeling/cracking & have been replaced with black plastics
  • Shoulder harness loops for front seats missing
  • Rear seat bottoms very good - top of rear seat back cooked by the sun & velour rubbed off
  • Still have the original T-top bag, jack, & spare tire in the back
  • Rear defogger still works, but hatch gas shocks shot, & frame around rear hatch needs surface rust removed & repainted
  • Original composite hood & working gas springs
  • Gas gage and temp. gage worked when I garaged it several years ago - but don't work now.
  • Factory AM/FM/cassette player
  • AC worked when I garaged it a few year back, but had to add refrigerant at start of each summer. I've not tried charging it this year.
  • Driver side T-top drips a bit at about your knee. I cover seat with plastic when I have to park outside
  • Original aluminum wheels. Kelly Charger tires have only a few thousand miles (235/60R/15 rear, 205/60R/15 front). I think I have 3 of the 4 center caps somewhere in the garage if I can find them - I can't remember if the center emblem is still in them or not.
  • Tilt steering column, original leather wrapped Z28 steering wheel, needs re-wrapped (wrinkly at the top)
  • All glass is good - have spare windshield, back hatch, & set of doors (doors fair - glass good) that go with car if wanted
  • Just replaced master cylinder & fuel pump
  • Some oil & fluid leaks
  • Needs a new battery - the one in it is about 9 years old and cranks slow, loses charge
  • I've serviced this car regularly all its life

Really fun car to drive, and I hate to sell it, but I finally got the '57 Belair I'd been wanting for years and don't have garage space to keep it or the time to restore it myself.
