My Camaro (Start to finish) thread

Hello everyone! My name is Tony I'm 23 years old, I had my Camaro for 7 years! I also had at least 5 other 3rdgens and 4thgens F-bodys in the time of owning this one. Iv been around cars all my life, I love suspensions, engines, drivelines, fabricating and welding but i absolutely hate doing body work but in order to get the car how i want i have to do it. To me body work is the most tedious process! i once sanded for more then 14 hours went to sleep in dust and when i woke up i was doing a sanding mouton on my walls. anyway on to the car....
----------
Here is about what I started with, the guy i bought the car from swap in a TBI engine with the worst wiring job i have ever seen! i cleaned up most the wiring, swap to a carb setup added a few bolt on's and that was about it, the things that bother me the most is an unclean engine bay and undercarriage of a car. i was always to embarrassed to open my hood

Degrease and power washed

This is what a leaky master cylinder does

Hand sanding really sucks

Patchs for the firewall

Re: My Camaro (Start to finsh) thread

After welding who knows how many small holes i laid a thin coat of fibber glass down, and filled in all the factory stretch marks and over laps in the metal

I used a spray on most the metal

I changed my mind and shaved the wiring, and smoothed out the strut towers with fibber galss filler and then a thin coat of bondo

Set and ready for primmer/sealer

Re: My Camaro (Start to finsh) thread

It took me about 4 months to get to this point, spent about 2 days wet sanding and buffing out the bay, i refinished all the parts or bought new and then detailed them. I detailed everything even if it was hardly visible. if im going to make the bay look nice might as well spend the extra time and make everything look nice too! There will be more updates coming

firewall looks good. i see that you also welded up the holes on the fenders from where the tanks went. but why did you just paint that motor and put it back in there? gonna make it look good, make it go fast too!

i haven't decided on what engine i want to put in yet i have a few laying around like a ZZ4 short block that iv been hanging onto for sometime now, i ended up refreshed this one, put in a cam and did some small things to get me by till i decided on what i want to build but it is going to be a gen1 sbc since the car is already setup for one plus all the parts i just bought for it so i basicly have been sitting up a foundation for the next

That looks great, don't you just love clean shaved and smooth engine bays? I did the same to mine. I can finally sleep at night knowing there are no holes!

Re: My Camaro (Start to finsh) thread

no not at all. i used a 2" sanding pad with 80 grit on an air power tool, then some other 2" disc from the assorted pack and went down to bare metal it took care of all of it, then just to be on the safe side i used a rust converter followed by a rust sealer....
and thanks for the complements
