I was flipping out thinking, "why hasn't he shifted yet?!" then saw the automatic style brake pedal. Once the tach stayed at 7,000 I figured something was wrong with it since the engine was still alive lol.
I never got mine over 115. It just didn't seem to have anything left. I blame it on a crappy timing chain and uphill grade. I was disappointed with that being my top end limit, but at 115, you do go by those trucks doing 55 pretty darn fast. Hopefully soon it will be round 2 and the new timing chin, cap and rotor, plugs, plug wires, and MSD 6A will get me to 135 or more

and yeah my tach is off a bit haha, brought another one on ebay.Installed and it just stays at 7k lol.. | I believe GM rated these cars at 145 MPH top speed so I think with some mods you could do it easily, just make sure your tires will handle it. It took me almost a minute to hit 115, but I was on a hill. I think 120 in 28 seconds is pretty good. Quote:

I don't have a problem with it if you are the only one around on a freeway or something because you are only risking your life and not countless others. The only time I did over 100 was at 2am on I-90 with no cars in sight (until I came up on a truck quickly and slowed down). You definitely have to use some common sense if you are going to speed that much and don't try it in traffic.

I got mine to 143 right after I got my 6 speed put in and still had my 3.08 gears. It was in the top end of 5th gear too. |

Sure sometimes we all can drive a little fast i wouldn't be proud enough to be showing or talking about it on a public forum though.
When your trapping 120 in the 1/4 in under 12 seconds then its something to be proud of.

I'd rather have the very quick acceleration to 70, it's more fun and less dangerous...... |

To the OP... why don't you just drop off your car at the junk yard and save us the story about how you messed up the car in an accident. |

4.50$ a gallon is much much cheaper then having to pay medical bills, for the other person or liability of killing someone. Even though I'm 15 Ive been in a situation with my older brother driving where he totaled a '91 Rs with 25k miles convertible with me in it. He was going around 100mph and lost it around 75 and controled it till he spun out into a tree. I'm not saying what he did was right b/c it wasn't nor am I trying to put you down in any way. I'm here to say 4.50$ a gallon is way cheaper by driving to the track, other then totaling a car or hurting someone else on streets. |

Car: 84 Camaro Sports Coupe Engine: Carb'd 5.7L 350 W/ Funct. SS Hood Transmission: 700R4 Axle/Gears: Stock for now | Re: 0-120 video im not bashing anyone but what motor are you running if your goal is 140 and one of you said you topped out at 115? i have a stock 350 with the original 305's intake and q jet carb, car is practically stock all through except for motor swap. I had a friend follow me an i had to shut it down at 145 cuz of a high po sittin in the median Im sure i was very close to top end if not there (i dont have a tach to know my limit so i just listen to the motor and the friend was because i have the 85 mph double pointer gauges) but even so I'm not bashing but thats before i change my intake and carb and do other mods so i excpect 150+ without even doing internal mods or chargers. so i just wanna know what motors? |
