| Hey...another Winnipegger here.
I'm Rob. I had an 85 Berlinetta for the last 5 years that I shoved a 454 into. It was Teal with a black 4" cowl hood. I stripped it last fall and put the drivetrain into my 72 CUtlass. Put nitrous on that car and painted it this year.
Well I'm back into 3rd gens now. This past Saturday I picked up an 87 Firbird with a 305 and a 5-speed from the original owner. Bonestock but in nice shape. I picked it up Saturday morning, brought it home, and pulled the tranny within the first 1 1/2 of having it lol. It just needs a clutch. It was also safetied 3 weeks ago!
Sunday nights I'm always at Minute Muffler on Portage. Don't really go to Tim's on Main too much anymore.
I'll be a fully certified mechanic in the next 5 weeks( finally level woohoo!). I've worked in a couple local speedshops, but not anymore. Too much "drama"
BTW...I'm sure some of you have seen my buddies black 83 T/A with Rodlites and 4" exhaust. Ran 11.20's on a 150 shot.
That's my life story.

Car: 1988 Trans Am Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: T-5 | Hey guys,
Great to see some fellow Manitobans on the site and WOW!, our very own forum! I'm in Brandon, have an 88' TA 305 TPI, that I'm just getting ready to pull the engine out of. I'm pretty excited because I'm just about to start to build a 383 Stroker for the car. That should make things a little more fun.
Shaneo: I've seen your car around quite a bit, and yes, you hit the nail on the head, everyone in Brandon knows who drives what! Gotta love small town living.
You have a very nice ride!! Actually, Harry K. is building my engine (see!!!! more small town talk!!!!).
Anyway, it's great that someone took the time to put up this board. |

Car: 1988 Trans Am Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: T-5 | My T/A is just pretty much plain jane. It was painted "Viper Blue" about 6 years ago, the body is nice and straight and still looks real sharp. I currently have no digital pics, (soon). Oh yeah, if you have seen me around I would probably be the idiot that is sideways or smokin' the tires, (I drive my poor car pretty hard).
I cruised your site last night. You're car is one beautiful notchback bud! You should be proud. |

Car: 87 IROC (looks like 91-92 Z28 tho huh?) Engine: 355 Transmission: T-56 | Hey Brandonites......sorry, haven't been around here for a while. Been busy with school and such... A88GTANotchback . I used to own the Fas Gas on Richmond ave. Just got out of that at the end of December. I used to see your car at the nursing home around the corner all the time.
Sorry I missed the cruze!
Oh, about the silver Z.....ha ha, finally figured out who's car it was. You're right, it used to be white before. looks killer now! Canuck 88' T/A building a 383 eh? Sounds interesting. You picked the right man to do the build for you. Mr. Keen has been around cars for a long time, and knows his stuff pretty darn good I'd say.
What's new with my car? well, I finally got the T-56 put in last year just before tucking it away for the winter. About time, I had all the parts laying on the garage floor for about 5 years. Just gotta find time now to put in my ATI procharger (also been sitting on the garage floor for 5 years). And gotta put in my 4th gen dash and door panels (They've only been sitting in the garage since last August!)
Well, it's nice to see there are a handful of locals around now. Maybe we can have a cruise night or something this summer, show up some of those mustang guys ((( not all of them, cuz some of them are cool guys ))) Maybe even head into wpg for a mini gathering or something.

Car: 87 IROC (looks like 91-92 Z28 tho huh?) Engine: 355 Transmission: T-56 | Hey, thanks. I think I may have to go to Houston's more often this year too. There's been a steadily decreasing turnout over the last little bit.
You ever notice though, how the old school guys tend to frown upon the newer high tech stuff? Not all of them, but some of them. The funny part is though, I went inside houston's with my girlfriend for a beer and we sat by the window. Through the night, those guys that thumb their noses at the newer cars, slowly made their way over and started checking out my car. ha ha....so they are interested in newer stuff, they just dont wanna admit it!
I was there one night last year and was quite surprised. There was an older guy who was right into thirdgens. He was going over my entire car! Taking measurements of the wheels, he even climbed underneath my car to check out my torque arm, rear control arms, and drop brackets!

Car: 1989 Firebird Engine: Custom 355 V8 Transmission: TH-350 with 3000 converter | Third Gen Club???? Hey guys, I dont actually live in Winnipeg, but in a very small town called Domain about 20 mintues south of the perimeter but I'm always in the city and I go crusing every crusie night.
I was wondering if there is a Third Gen club in Winnipeg and if there isnt, would you all like to start one. From what I've read on the message board everone seems freindly and helpfull, so a club would be ideal. Also, if anyone else has done a V6 efi to V8 carb swap, could I maybe get some tips. My car has a 2.8 V6 efi and I have a 355 V8 carb and any help would be greatly appreciated. |

It needs exhaust and tires and maybe tranny work for $3250 or an 88 Firebird Formula 5.0 TBI that is mint, for $3500. The 89 has over 200km and the 88 has 183km. Any advice on these 2 cars would help me make my buying decision. Thanks and I hope to see you all sunday night in my new ride!!! |

I plowed it into the back of a Ford Focus in '02 the front strut mounts are about to rust off. and its has a intermitent stutter caused by who knows what. The tranny well i can explain that as well. I Did some reverse burnouts in it as well as thrashed with some manual shifting. That car is burnt out. did manage to pull a 15.0 at Gimli though. However it had to get pushed outa staging lanes twice cause it died. |

Hey WinnipegGTA... Mine is black, it hasn't been out much in the last couple of years. I have it parked...Hopefully this summer it may be a possibility.
