Hey...another Winnipegger here.

I'm Rob. I had an 85 Berlinetta for the last 5 years that I shoved a 454 into. It was Teal with a black 4" cowl hood. I stripped it last fall and put the drivetrain into my 72 CUtlass. Put nitrous on that car and painted it this year.

Well I'm back into 3rd gens now. This past Saturday I picked up an 87 Firbird with a 305 and a 5-speed from the original owner. Bonestock but in nice shape. I picked it up Saturday morning, brought it home, and pulled the tranny within the first 1 1/2 of having it lol. It just needs a clutch. It was also safetied 3 weeks ago!

Sunday nights I'm always at Minute Muffler on Portage. Don't really go to Tim's on Main too much anymore.

I'll be a fully certified mechanic in the next 5 weeks( finally level woohoo!). I've worked in a couple local speedshops, but not anymore. Too much "drama"

BTW...I'm sure some of you have seen my buddies black 83 T/A with Rodlites and 4" exhaust. Ran 11.20's on a 150 shot.

That's my life story.

Hey guys,

Great to see some fellow Manitobans on the site and WOW!, our very own forum! I'm in Brandon, have an 88' TA 305 TPI, that I'm just getting ready to pull the engine out of. I'm pretty excited because I'm just about to start to build a 383 Stroker for the car. That should make things a little more fun.

Shaneo: I've seen your car around quite a bit, and yes, you hit the nail on the head, everyone in Brandon knows who drives what! Gotta love small town living.

You have a very nice ride!! Actually, Harry K. is building my engine (see!!!! more small town talk!!!!).

Anyway, it's great that someone took the time to put up this board.

My T/A is just pretty much plain jane. It was painted "Viper Blue" about 6 years ago, the body is nice and straight and still looks real sharp. I currently have no digital pics, (soon). Oh yeah, if you have seen me around I would probably be the idiot that is sideways or smokin' the tires, (I drive my poor car pretty hard).

I cruised your site last night. You're car is one beautiful notchback bud! You should be proud.

Hey Brandonites......sorry, haven't been around here for a while. Been busy with school and such...

A88GTANotchback . I used to own the Fas Gas on Richmond ave. Just got out of that at the end of December. I used to see your car at the nursing home around the corner all the time.

Sorry I missed the cruze!

Oh, about the silver Z.....ha ha, finally figured out who's car it was. You're right, it used to be white before. looks killer now!

Canuck 88' T/A building a 383 eh? Sounds interesting. You picked the right man to do the build for you. Mr. Keen has been around cars for a long time, and knows his stuff pretty darn good I'd say.

What's new with my car? well, I finally got the T-56 put in last year just before tucking it away for the winter. About time, I had all the parts laying on the garage floor for about 5 years. Just gotta find time now to put in my ATI procharger (also been sitting on the garage floor for 5 years). And gotta put in my 4th gen dash and door panels (They've only been sitting in the garage since last August!)

Well, it's nice to see there are a handful of locals around now. Maybe we can have a cruise night or something this summer, show up some of those mustang guys ((( not all of them, cuz some of them are cool guys ))) Maybe even head into wpg for a mini gathering or something.

Hey, thanks. I think I may have to go to Houston's more often this year too. There's been a steadily decreasing turnout over the last little bit.

You ever notice though, how the old school guys tend to frown upon the newer high tech stuff? Not all of them, but some of them. The funny part is though, I went inside houston's with my girlfriend for a beer and we sat by the window. Through the night, those guys that thumb their noses at the newer cars, slowly made their way over and started checking out my car. ha ha....so they are interested in newer stuff, they just dont wanna admit it!

I was there one night last year and was quite surprised. There was an older guy who was right into thirdgens. He was going over my entire car! Taking measurements of the wheels, he even climbed underneath my car to check out my torque arm, rear control arms, and drop brackets!

Third Gen Club????

Hey guys, I dont actually live in Winnipeg, but in a very small town called Domain about 20 mintues south of the perimeter but I'm always in the city and I go crusing every crusie night.

I was wondering if there is a Third Gen club in Winnipeg and if there isnt, would you all like to start one. From what I've read on the message board everone seems freindly and helpfull, so a club would be ideal. Also, if anyone else has done a V6 efi to V8 carb swap, could I maybe get some tips. My car has a 2.8 V6 efi and I have a 355 V8 carb and any help would be greatly appreciated.

im from winnipeg lol, i never knewthere was so many ppl from manitoba on the boards. I would post pics but the digi cam died on me

I have a 82 Z28, and a 85 Firebird I just sold my 83 Trans am

the camaro is getting a full restore rightnow, its my project car, it was the least rusted out car I could find. seeing how nothing will befactory I figured it didnt matter what year I got.

mods done,

-72 vette block 4 bolt mains
-88 polished TPI
-Z06 brake upgrade front
-98 camaro rear discs
-ten spoke chrome 2002 17" wheels
-91-92 Z28 grounds effects/spoiler etc.
-holley DFI so Ican use my laptop in my car for changing the computer
-after market seats sparco
-8 point roll cage
-frame connectors
-intrax lowering springs
-polly mounts throughout the whole car
-and it is being painted right now by me, corvette electron blue
-sound system on the way, but everything is going alpine
-removed the rear seats, couldnt get in there with roll cage, so it makes a good place for sterio equiptment and xbox,ps2 etc.

future mods include
-ATI supercharger
-direct port nos injection
-6 speed trans, only has a 5 right now

I hope to have the car on the road cruizen portage by august but will have to see how funds run. :lala:
I still have to sell my CRX SI to have a little more money to play with

anyone that can help, im going to pick up another camaro, but I want to make it convertable, need help in figuring what parts I need for that...

Hey all. Im from Winnipeg too. I am in the process of buying either an 89 Trans am GTA with a 5.7 8. It needs exhaust and tires and maybe tranny work for $3250 or an 88 Firebird Formula 5.0 TBI that is mint, for $3500. The 89 has over 200km and the 88 has 183km. Any advice on these 2 cars would help me make my buying decision. Thanks and I hope to see you all sunday night in my new ride!!!

That 89 sounds like my old one almost identical. Is it Maroon, If so I wouldn't buy it. I plowed it into the back of a Ford Focus in '02 the front strut mounts are about to rust off. and its has a intermitent stutter caused by who knows what. The tranny well i can explain that as well. I Did some reverse burnouts in it as well as thrashed with some manual shifting. That car is burnt out. did manage to pull a 15.0 at Gimli though. However it had to get pushed outa staging lanes twice cause it died.

Hey ARBOC...I thought it was you but wasn't sure. So how is the car running...Was there as much work that needed to be done as you thought?? Are you planning on doing anything with it this year?

Hey WinnipegGTA... Mine is black, it hasn't been out much in the last couple of years. I have it parked...Hopefully this summer it may be a possibility.

Cool, Did you have it out at all last year. Ive seen 2 that look like mine one has like Large chrome exhaust tips and one looks pretty well stock. I haven't seen the interiors as for what options were included. For mine if it was an option it was included. Black leather interior. My car only has about 100K on it but shows more like 50 or 60 K cause apparenty the first owner just used it as a summer only highway car between Calgary and Medicine Hat where he bought it. So wear and tear is next to nothing. He was apparently just some rich old man from what im told.

Hey ARBOC...I thought you were going to be finally converted!!! Just kidding..I think that there are a lot of freebie mods that you can also do where it doesn't cost anything or next to nothing.

It was out but I didn't really cruise on Sundays. It looks stock, except for the single 3" outlet sort of tucked away under the rear bumper.

The gear shift indicator needle is busted on mine does anybody know the term/name for the plastic plate (assembly) for it. I have glued/epoxied before but it has broke again. It was binding when shifted to first. I figure if I have to take all that apart again to get at it I might as well put in another one. And where the best place to get one might be...there are a few scrap yards around but none of them really have much for our cars.

THATS ME! or, sounds a lot like me.. haha!

I haven't been driving it much, but this summer.. i'm having a stupid clutch problem, and don't really know what's going on. I know someone that works at AMYs, and he says he'd give me a hand and some time of the lift and such, but keeps procrastinating. so i just havn't been driving it as much as i want to, and i don't want to take something stupid like a ceased clutch cable in to a tranny shop, when i know i could do it myself if i had a bit of help and a lift...

It looks nice from far, but needs a lot of work, as all.. i bought it as a project, and am slowly getting her what she deserves.

3 inch exhaust all the way through my beefy 350

how was the bbq, and when's the next one!?

Well i haven't read this in a while, but i live in Ft Richmond kinda close to St.Vital, as for a Winnipeg FBody group there has been one for a while. www.thefbody.com, click message board, go to the Manitoba section. Its all really just winnipeg except for 88Notchback from here who's in Brandon. You'll see me around this summer im sure. Black 1991 GTA w/ WS6 Replica hood. Generally with 10 other Fbodies or so. We're hard to miss. We ususally hand out business cards so if i see your car parked ill stick one under your wipers, has basic contact info to get ahold of some of the main members. Don't be afraid to come up and says hello, we don't bite.

Hey Max...

I have been gone from Winnipeg for over a decade now so I don't think we know each other. I used to live on Poplarwood... 59 to be exact and I lived on Carriere.... The apartments on the corner of St Mary's and Carriere. My family is mostly still out there though.

Hey guys, yah Im not in Winnipeg, but in Calgary

Although I'm heading out there for family reasons at the end of june, for a week, did they manage to shut down Cruise night or is it still a go? I know last time I was there they were trying to shut it down because people kept racing on the streets and such.

I hope its still up :S, anyways is there any meet or anything planned around the end of June/early July for 3rd gen's? I aint got nothing spectacular if I get it running but would still like to meet up with some of you guys.

Oh man that sucks, I think i just saw your car out the other day maybe. You don't go to the TD bank in Ft.Richmond area do you? This was maybe earlier this week. Not quite to sure which day. Thats quite a nice car, I love black, being the owner of a black GTA myself. As for a shop. Id be crossing your fingers autopac doesn't write it off on you. I had an 89 GTA, and they wrote it off and looks to have had about as much damage as yours. Only good point was they gave me like 2grand over what i had paid for the car. And now i have my dream GTA. Anyrate good luck. As for shops i hear Winters is really good. The shop owners son has a Red 89 GTA, that they had to rebuild from a wreck. And you would never know the car was ever redone. Id check them out. Just don't go a GM dealership. Good Luck and lemme know.
