ha! Good luck finding one of those....
Chris, my mom returned your call, you going back in that area soon??
Anyone want a low mileage compxe268h cam and lifters? Got all of 1000kms on it, max.
I'll check the condition once I tear apart the engine and get the solid cam ready to go in. Ryan, you've upgraded to comp 981 springs and 1.6 rockers already haven't you?
That's where you'd buy the parts, but they wouldn't do the install. Most shops would be able to install it, and supply the parts if it's just a stock replacement part going in there.
C-tire might be cheaper, but it is, what 2-3 hrs labor to do? Plus parts, call it $150 for that. I'd say that's pretty accurate. Crappy time of year to do it yourself too (-22°C right now...)
85Silver, where's axle benders? I work right by there, and have never been there. Same type of store as Mopac or Best buy? I shop at those places most of the time.
I'd be so happy if I could find somewhere to replace a clutch for $150. As I said, $450 is the cheapest i've seen, and it gets as high as $600, depending on where your getting it done.

I doubt it. I found a vented t/a hood for $150 and my brother didn't even want to fork for that!

Axlebenders Performance Center Inc

Yep it is the same store, but you can usually get parts cheaper through him. The only bad thing is he usually has to order the parts in. They also build motors and such.

I'm not to sure where you live in calgary but you could try pomper's automotive in strathmore 934 2224 its only 20min east out of calgary. He does really good work not to sure what he would charge you.
lol! so take the plunge! i live near toronto and am moving out to edmonton next week.
figured id introduce myself here too as come summer im sure the desperate search for random parts will begin.
got a 90 iroc with a ton of work into it but have a few bugs i need to get worked out come summer. Also just picked up a 97 yukon gt that im going to be driving out there, then have my iroc shipped out there come summer. Hey, I live in Medicine hat. I was wondering if there is a good place in Calgary or this area that restores wheels? I recently bought a GTA with the stock rims and they all have curb rash. Also anyone have a rough idea what it costs got get wheels restored?
Beyond.ca has a bunch of people that are unsatisfied with Alberta Wheel refinishing, but I think i'll look into it anyway. http://www.albertawheelrepair.com/
Goddard ave, right off Edmonton trail and Mcknight. I just called them and indeed they DO wheel widening. I'm waiting for a callback from "Santos" to find out about pricing.
I think my 2nd gen snowflake 15x8's might look nice as 15x10's with 305's outback I do like the bulge of 275's though.
I went to alberta wheel repair to get a quote and found them to be quite friendly and accomadating. My friend had a wheel repaired there and they did a great job.
Hmm, they never called me back on friday actually. Damn. I'll have to look more into that later. After I wear out these 275's I might look at some 295's or wider, and go to a 10" wide wheel.
Nosaint, what size is the box cut for? Carpet on it now?
I'm building a fiberglass box, but i'm getting discouraged as it's not turning out very well...
was just wondering what there is in the way of road course stuff in calgary?? i just moved from ontario to edmonton and apparently theres all of 1 drag strip in edmonton.
got a truck so if theres any good solo1/2 stuff ill probably tow the camaro down for a couple weekends
I think Race city in Calgary has a road course setup. 2 mile paved road course. http://www.racecity.com/
Skinny, you're looking for a camaro all the way from Toronto? I don't think you need to come this far...
In other news, my SBC is finally being put back together. Bit of a rush now, since i've decided to move closer to work, so I need to be out of this house in a month or so. Now that's motivation. Got the Isky Z-25 solid flat tappet cam ready to be pushed in there. Hooboy that's going to be a beast!!!!

I had business in Calgary. If I had found a decent driving Camaro I would have driven it home. There's a better chance of finding something rust free.
I'll look again this summer.
Anything specific you need to know Doug? I'm a mechanical engineer here in Calgary, I might know someone...
I was looking to get myself back into a mobile crane apprenticeship (thats what i was doing in toronto before i came) and was having some difficulty doing so up here so was thinking if anyone might have a contact that could help me get somewhere with the union in calgary.
Luckily i just managed to get myself a job with sterling crane here in edmonton as a yard hand with a future as an apprentice so im super stoked.
Ryan, you coming back to cowgary to visit sometime this summer?
I just moved from my nice mansion up in Dalhousie to a tiny spec of a house over in the SE, acadia area. Beautiful detached oversized heated single garage though *drool*. It's great.
Just towed the TA over last night. Now I just need to bring over all my tools and I can finally re-assemble it, ie. put the engine in!

Yeah, probably the long weekend in august.
Uh, if anyone's interested: 86 trans am for sale..
LG4/auto 3.23 peg leg rear end
The good:
-clean title
-interior is in pretty good shape
-engine/trans are both strong
-RPO verified trans am
-newish tires
-perfect dashpad
-a bunch of misc new parts (battery, alternator, etc)
-power windows/locks
-t-tops
the bad:
-rusty body (wheel wells, rear fenders, doors)
-someone hit the driver side fender behind the wheel. it's dented in nicely and the door sags when you open it now
-paint is pretty bad all over
-for some reason the battery keeps dying. cant figure out why..
Anyway, it still drives fine, replace the fender and fix the door and it would be a good beater, or part it out or whatever.
haha, yea a nice perfect picture of it eh?
Damn man, that's a slick car, i'd be all over that. Some paint and body work and it'd be great, $500 is hard to turn up.
Why is your brother selling it anyway? Wasn't into the muscle car thing? The whole "spend all your money trying to get it running then have no money left for gas" ? (I love that...)
Yeah I know it's an older pic, as it sits now, imagine it in that pic, minus the center caps, plus the driver side fender dent, plus some damage on the front bumper, plus some rust creeping up from under the ground effects.
I would have posted a more recent picture but I dont have one. I told my bro to go take a few today though.
As for why it's going, basically that was the last straw when it got hit. My brother/parents all collectively threw up their arms and said that's it, get it the hell out of here, and went and bought another car. sigh.
I went to highschool grad in that car, I was pretty well known in high schol for it, then I took it out to BC for a year of college and it never gave me a single problem. Then I got married and drove away in this car, after filling the street with tire smoke.. It will be missed dearly.
