It didnt at first, but what happened was that the fender was hitting the door and I guess after opening and closing it a few times.. When they took it to jack carter for an estimate, they said the door needed to be rehung.
Hell, I'd just replace it though. It's rusting on the underside anyway. |

That car had the sexiest exhaust note (with the possible exception of creepingdeaths mu||et exhaust, hahah). Does your car still have the electric exhaust cutout?
If I had any room at my new house i'd pounce on that. |

If only it was out here in BC, I would totally buy it. Heck, even if I could just buy it and finally run it into the ground, that would be ok too.
A couple months ago one came up for sale out here, for a grand, and it was a white lg4/700r4 86 trans am with the red interior just like mine, and it had a rough idle and a few other things. I wanted it badly.
But, upwards and onwards. I'm deep into the 240 community out here now. I expect to be in the 13's with my little ka turbo this season. Should be fun. |

I thought it was cool when i first had it, setting off car alarms and such but i hate it now haha. So that must be the car in your cardomain then right? if it is I'm taking it without a doubt, hopefully your mom calls me soon I want that thing haha, That willl be my 5th 3rd gen and second trans am if i get it. |

I'll be putting on a dynomax ultra flow welded when I get my header collectors re-welded on.
Damn Kris, you've got too much money and parking space
If you buy it and it's running funny, bring it by my place. He was saying the carb was giving them some issues before, and i've tweaked that one once already.
It's a q-jet that can still be saved! |

I also got a stock spread bore intake manifold and some other crap... Here's a file clip of the 240's exhaust. I like it more. Heh. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ihb5M_0epvA
Anyway Creepingdeath you seem like a nice enough guy and more importantly, I get the impression that car would be in good hands if it went to you. I'll tell my mom to call you first. Which will probably be tuesday or wednesday. My only request to my parents was that they take some of the stereo out so that I can use it in the 240, so it will come with a stock stereo on the passenger seat, crappy front speakers and very nice wiring to all speakers + amplifiers in the trunk.
Oh, and rockford tweeters. |

I like pulling up to all my friends in their imports with a loud *** engine that shakes the ground also i think most of their cars look like family cars or something and dont look like they were designed as sports cars haha, like look at the old skylines and soarers, lancers, impreza. also I can't beleive what some guys are paying for parts on imports, for example like $1300 for intake manifolds . |

I was working on a subaru the other day. The serpentine drive pulley was $250! Just a stock part! I can get an entire chromed set of underdrive pulleys for that cost for my SBC!
Imports seem to think that we WANT to sit on super hard formed type of seats. Uck. All the ergonomic interior parts of import cars just plain piss me off. Everything is WRONG for me. |

It came with a smaller turbocharged engine in japan and everyone loves those things, but I like displacement. So I kept the stock 2.4l and threw a turbo on it. When I have the money and the time and the space (ie when I move back to calgary next year) I'm swapping that motor out for an LS1. Just imagine, ls1 + heads/cam/intake/headers/dumps in a 2700 lb car.
And hey, import and domestic, I 'swing both ways'. :P |

subarus, ugh! a fellow i work with has had 2 new STi, over the past 3 years, and each of them had into service under warranty, almost more than he actually drove them
lets just say that the final straw, was when the last time around, the service manager tried to tell him they had a $ limit on warranty work, and he'd have to pay from then out
i swear he was actually going to park the thing through the showroom window, after setting it on fire - LOL Quote:

1-> "flat tops". If you just go out and buy speed pro flat tops with 5cc valve reliefs. They have a 1.54" compression height, which adds .020" to their deck height. Stock pistons are about .025", so that's what makes it .045" deck height. Since you don't want to deck the block, and I highly doubt the deck is flat enough to hold a shim gasket, so I used a normal composition one, .041" thickness. That gives a whopping 8.8:1, with a terribly ~.080" quench. Yuck.
2-> "zero deck". Exactly as above, except you zero deck the block. That'll give a 9.7:1 CR, and perfect quench. With Calgary's 4000' density altitude, good quench, and vortec chambers, this is about as ideal as it gets. Speed pro H345NP pistons are what i'd recommend. $11 each on summit. Or summits house brand http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
Decking the block isn't as big of a deal as it sounds, Rod charged me $120 for that.

| Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta ah, i entered the piston cc as a negative number @ -5cc
i also didnt include that the heads will be getting decked straight, so factoring in that, the volume will likely return to 64-66cc, so lets change that too
i found the gasket bore on the v-r vortec 350 is 4.10", so added that in
that gives 9.25 compression, still better than the stock 7.8
still, the GM crate engine made 370hp, on 9.0:1, with the xe268 & 750 double-pump holley
i won't find out till i take the block in for hot tanking & checked that i'll know what it'll need, maybe zero decked? dunno
but the less machine work i have to do the better
the cars gonna get a crate engine in a couple of years, so if i can just re-ring/re-bearing it for now

creepingdeath - do you still have a few extra q-jets laying around? I'm coming through on a business trip tomorrow morning (10-11am) and back through on friday 3-5pm range. Still got the carbs you want to get rid of?
Then the second bird here, whiley, you still want a rebuildable q-jet? |

sonix, ya i offered to help with the engine, so just PM or call me to LMK
i do have a job/work on the weekend, but if you let me when (sat or sun) i can schedule it for the opposite day
even if we don't have time & do the carb rebuild thing on a different weekend/day, thats fine too

Yea, we had enough food for a small army, good god.
No, I haven't had a chance to go back out to the garage yet. It's my roommates birthday today, so i'm probably not going to be able to get much done until later in the week, or the weekend. boy it's frustrating having to sneak a few minutes here, few minutes there. Really piecemeal alright... | | | | |
